Morning men,
As the less fair race, is it the norm that we do not take ‘selfies’?
I’m in my early thirties now and I still have no idea how to take a picture of myself, nor do I like looking at pictures of my face taken by self.
I’m not a narcissistic person, but I do put in work at the gym and I get lots of friendly compliments which is great. However, when it comes to sending/ taking face pictures, I’m hit by a wave of nausea and generally feel quite depressed
Is this just me? What pictures do you find work for you?
Any advice from the fairer sex would be equally as beneficial and informative, if you have read this far, ladies.
Happy Wodensday all.

Show me someone who has submitted a decent photo verification to FAB as we are all to busy making sure we’ve got both hands in the picture with a concentrated facial expression ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

I've always detested selfies because, for me personally, they come across as contrived and unnatural. Hence why I avoid them and sometimes ask other people to do them for me or use a tripod.
My most recent face photos tend to be a 'few months old', which demonstrates my aversion to them. |

Trial and error.
Women aren't born knowing how to take a good selfie. Use different angles, try varying lengths of distance between you and the camera. Different expressions on your face. Props. Lighting. Think about what it is you're trying to express in this photo. Watch videos online of how to use the settings on your camera or phone to better represent yourself. Look at other photos to see what works for other people and try to emulate that in your pictures. |

Can I be the first to say you can't beat a relaxed natural smile. Men rarely smile in pictures
I find using a selfie timer helps it gives 10 seconds to try different angles, positions and smiles.
If there are things your conscious of or wish to hide away use props. Hats, ties, belts, towels stand behind a piece of furniture etc.
Before you do all of that, look in the mirror and find things you like about yourself. Use those as the focus of your pictures hope that helps.
For something a little different, ladies like a good strong hand shot holding your waistband, belt, tie etc. Arms, backs, thighs. The more you try the more you'll find what works for you, which will also be a confident boost.

"I hear you. I have exactly six photos of my face that I can stand to look at and that's over a period of about as many years.
I tend to grimace when my face is in a shot."
Same with me, I tend to think they are ok, but when uploaded on here, I look like a thumb! |

Thanks for the kind advice, I never thought about props before. Already YouTubing some selfie taking techniques!
Thankyou ❤️

One last tip, some people use videos in forward facing camera mode, trying different poses etc. Then screenshot the pose they like after. To do this you'll have to stay still in that pose for a few seconds otherwise it's hard to get a screenshot that's not blurry. ![](/icons/rainbow.png) |

Most photo apps will let you export a particular frame now so no need to screenshot |

As someone who works in media all of this.
I don't think blokes really know how to act or smile while in front of a camera.
I can't hence why I'm the one stood behind it!
An extra long self stick (meter or so) is a great tool to have and if you don't like smiling or want to hide any "dad bod" raise the camera above you're head slightly, so it's looking down while on the selfie stick, then just change the angle till you find one you like. |

Yeah, I hate taking selfies. Women always look good in selfies even if they’re doing the silly pouting thing, which often looks really hot guys don’t have a trick like that they can pull. We just look weird. |

Yeah, I think I struggle with this as well as it's hard to find a selfie pose that looks natural. I have also been told that my face pic didn't inspire filthy thoughts so apparently I have that going against me as well! I like smiling in my pics, but if that end up looking too innocent, then I'm not sure what facial expression I'm supposed to give 🤷♂️ |

Knowing your face is going to be cut out of most pics on FAB is perfect 😬
Gurning or one eye shut or trying to strain a smile wouldn’t look as appealing, if we kept our heads on pics!
When relaxed and taking a selfie then we can take a decent one. Taking one together though is so hard!
For the amount of pics we have, selfies together are very low!

Honestly I think for most females it's also the same - on a good day I look deranged in mine. On a bad day I look like a drug addict
However the receiver is usually complimentary, so I think we are all just over thinking it maybe ... so get snapping! |

Yep, it's no easier for women. I think some people just aren't comfortable in front of the camera, myself included, and it shows in the resulting picture.
The best photos of me are those when taken by someone else when I'm not really aware of it. Or if I'm tipsy and past caring. |

It's definitely overthinking for me. I never used to think I'd be comfortable sharing "real time" pics with anyone but the Mr... but here we are! 😅 |
