I get to sleep no problem but always seem to wake in the early hours 2/3am.

Anyone recommend over the counter sleeping tablets or do I need to see a doctor?

Thanks

Having read some of the responses on these forums, may suggest that not the best place for medical advice

But chatting to your pharmacist might be worthwhile as they can give good medical advice and signpost to a suitable product x

I've been struggling with that for years honey - so I sympathise. I've been tried with everything but nothing has really helped. I take an antihistamine called doxylamine - that helps a little but leaves me quite groggy the next day... x

What happens if you consistently go to bed later or get up earlier? Does that make any difference?

They recommend you rise and fall at the same time each day, it never worked for me though. I have sleep apnea now though so struggle even more

Have you got Sleep apnoea?

If so do not take sleeping pills they can make sleep apnoea worse.

Have good sleep habits like making sure your bedroom is dark and quiet.

I live near a busy roundabout which has always annoyed me but the last year or so with the increase of cars with loud exhausts is really starting to irritate/play on my nerves. Can you believe that there are cars on the road that deliberately repeatedly miss-fire.

If I move to the front bedroom the noise is not so bad and I do tend to sleep much better.

Maybe it's time to finally move.

Sometimes it’s connected to diabetes or pre-diabetes. Other times it’s habit, or psychological.

Only a doctor can tell you though.

Have you tried meditation music or sleep sounds? I find them really helpful.

In that case I would suggest you make the move and on top of that keep TV and phone out of the bedroom.

If it is external sounds which are disturbing you, I recommend sleep sounds, and a little aromatherapy.

Taking sleeping pills can have undesirable side effects if the cause is not a brain chemistry issue but an external factors thing!

If you have an alexa I recommend sleepjar app, it really helped me with pumpkin having an unusual work/sleep schedule so when he would come to bed in the early hours it wouldn't disturb me.

Earplugs, a fan, or headband headphones can help muffle noises.

There is a great app called a soft murmur - it uses a range of different noise that help. I use it a lot as a depressive and a tinnitus sufferer

I just don't sleep.

Have been for tests and nothing has solved it.

But as I was asked Are you able to function with the sleep you are getting?
