What music have you seemingly discovered way later than the rest of the world?
I’ll kick us off with Bob Dylan because I always assumed I wouldn’t like his sound. I was wrong! And Taylor Swift because I thought she’d be a purveyor of prissy teenybopper music. I was wrong! Love her stuff (not her ‘stuff’). |

I listened to Bob Dylan for (what felt like) the first time the other week after thinking I’d absolutely hate his sound and was very pleasantly surprised!
I’m pretty stuck in the past music wise so sometimes I’ll hear music in the background of a tiktok video or something and think oh this is nice. For it to be like the big thing amongst the cool kids 😬 |

Blood on the Tracks is a top 10 album for me. ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

"And to actually answer your question, I've recently got heavily into Blur for the first time, which is weird as they are almost my generation (bit younger) and come from Essex like me."
I grew up with Blur & Oasis mate I'm glad you've finally discovered the joys ❤️ ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

"Trivium and Bullet for my valentine.
I’m about 20 years behind every other metal head there.
Welcome, brother 🤟🏻"
I was supposed to be going to Belgium to watch both at the weekend.
However, I dropped a bit of a clanger,
and didn’t realise that both mine and Mrs Wicks passports had expired.
Tv concerts and Belgian beer/food fest at home instead. |

I never liked the Smiths first time round. Love them now.
I was massively into Britpop/Manchester Indie and Shed 7 escaped me. One of my favourite bands now.
Weirdly enough I took the dog out the other day and a Slipknot track came on Auto DJ (because I was listening to some Nu Metal) I then listened to about 2 hours of them and was actually mildly impressed. |

"I shall also add Pink Floyd to this list. Quite the renaissance in my house this week!
Pink Floyd is a weird one. It’s like
I hate it
I hate it
I hate it
This is genius "
😂 This is exactly how I feel about them. |

🎵 Will say the music of the classic composers - Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Handel….etc
Thought it was all rubbish as a kid. In my 50’s I can see they have composed some of the greatest music of all time. 🎵 |

Ian Dury and the Block Heads for me. I never really used to get it always seemed a bit Chaz and Dave to me, but these days I love it.
And Frank Zappa, still one I’m still a bit unsure of but find myself starting to listening regularly recently. |

If I could get to Belgium at the weekend, I'd offer to take them off your hands. What a bummer ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

It wasn’t a recent epiphany, about 10 or 11 years ago, I was listening to The After Midnight Show that Janice Long used to host on Radio 2, she played the title track of an album called Listen, by Christy Moore, absolutely amazing, couldn’t comprehend how I hadn’t got into this singer songwriter before. |

She most definitely is. She’s well known and her name is Sarah Hicks. |

Discovered Frank Turner during 2020. His 'Positive Music For Negative People' album struck a cord and helped me during a difficult time. This led to listening to some of his other albums to appreciate how good he is.
Now seen him live three times. |
