Just tidying up the cupboards and found a jar of tamarind chipotle that was best before September 2011. It might be time to get rid of it.

What's your oldest find in your kitchen?

My favourite was my mum's food colouring that when I was younger still had the price on of 12 1/2p. No best before dates back then so it must have been fine

My parents would visit and buy a jar of mint sauce every time. I mean who uses that? I had a jar for 11 years. It does not go off 🤣

I do a sweep of the kitchen every 6 months if it's tined it can stay over by 6 months but otherwise its out the door. Don't have space for things I don't / haven't used.

Mint sauce mixed with natural yougat is mint dip for a curry.

I'd struggle to use that too. Thank goodness my parents mainly bring sweets for the kids. They don't last long enough to go off

That 2011 Chipotle was a great year, Tamarind notes were perfect, heady spicy aroma, slight burn to palate.. I hope you keep it for a special occasion. Your kids first enchilada maybe

I occasionally find things at the back from before when date codes were invented...

I darent even look at the back of some of my cupboards. We've lived in this house 15 years so there could very well be something lurking from way back then. Some cupboards I just never go to the back of.

Also can be used to make the red onion dip that you get in the restaurant. It's yummy!! Obviously either all the other ingredients too
