Quality bed linen

I need some advice!

I want some really good quality bedlinen for my king-size bed . But which is best and how much should you pay for quality ? I’ve seen up to £200 for a base sheet

percale or sateen? Egyptian cotton?

Fitted or non-fitted? Thread count 200 300 500 600.?

I want the best, but don’t want to spend thousands. I need a base sheet plus a spare, six pillowcases and a 2 king-size duvet cover.

I know fitted is easier but they seem to be cheaper and all the nice hotel ones seem to be traditional folded under, is there a reason for this?

I think I’m in need of the services of a bed linen expert Amazon shopper.

Should I just go to M&S or John Lewis and ask the nice elderly gay man what to buy ? Or can I figure this out myself?

Buy the highest thread count Egyptian cotton you can afford … the difference is really noticeable.

I think it goes up to about 600?

What about the fitted sheets? Hotels never seem to use them.

Hotels don't use fitted sheets because the elastic degrades on very hot washes so the sheets don't last as long

Thanks! I think I will go with non-fitted as they often need a hot wash

Ha!

Also they use tumble dryer which are anathema to elastic.

Oh god always feel them. Couldn’t possibly buy without the touch test.

I hope you use suspenders on those sheets, keep them nice and tight, nothing worse than sheets that aren’t taut

The White Company has discounts very often.

I spent £1200 a couple of months ago but that was bedding for the whole household (4 beds)

Quality is pretty good, not -the best- but sheets are crisp and lovely. You can pretty much get a couple full sets of bedding for about £300 or so, maybe less with the sales!

I also bought silk pillowcases from them for my hair one stayed at the hospital lol 😂😂😂😂 £85 quid gone with the hospital laundry 😂😂😂
