MADERIA Wherever I lay my hat |
Paris (pleasure) and Brussels (business) are the furthest I have done from this country in a day. I went to see a waterfall in Vietnam that involved two back to back sleeper buses and a 36 hour round trip just to see the falls for a couple of hours |

East of Eden, West of Hell |
I've signed up to a couple of solo trips with a travel company. Completed 2, 2 more booked.
I do prefer to go away with someone I know, but if needs must...
Just back from a long weekend to Morocco, but was visiting a guide from the last trip 🤦🏻♀️ |

"Does anyone do extreme day trips on their own on here?
I have had a few now but keen to explore different places.
Hit me with ideas" yes I've done quite a few over the years as a single lady.
Will probably do a few more this year ...as Mr can't always come with as he has work ... but mostly doing stuff together |

"Great ideas folks, thankyou" do you drive to the airports or use public transport.
As I've found going from Luton / Gatwick that a national express coach normally works out cheaper than driving and parking if its just me.. and i can nap on the journey there |

A mix of both, open to travel options. I do a lot of research on deals |

I went to Milan at the beginning of the month, had just over 30 hours there
Got Dublin booked for a the day on my birthday 6th March, and Cologne booked for 20/21st March too.
Split with my partner last year and it was a rough ride. So this year I'm trying new things, exploring, and learning to be on my own again.
(a few meets from here wouldn't go a miss but that doesn't seem to be happening haha ) |

Just a col of weeks ago, I went Malaga for the kings celebration, basically one night … due to late flight and early flight back… had my itinerary set out in my mind, but it went tits up cuz they moved the parade forward 6 & half hours, due to expected bad weather, so I went and got accidentally very d*unk … so in a bit, I went Malaga for one night and got pissed lol 😂 |

Few years ago now but one of the cheap airlines were having one of their sales. Managed to get a return to Alicante one morning, hotel for one night & flight back the following morning. Flights & hotel cost me £60. Had a friend who lives in Benidorm pick me up, had a great night out, 2 hours kip in the hotel, breakfast then a lift back to the airport & home. Would have cost me more to have a night out in Newcastle. |

I love budget travel. I often book single flights , always use the busses or trains to/from airports & staying with friends or self catering. I did Kazakhstan on £100 last year. I agree often it’s more expensive to stay at home |

Yup. Gone solo many times in the last few years and also took my sons solo when they were younger too.
It's liberating. Don't wait for other people or you risk missing out.
In terms of extreme Day trips, I've done a few.
Paris, Dublin, Copenhagen, Ibiza, Rome, Geneva.
Did day trips to Venice and Verona whilst staying in Bergamo.
Visited Naples and did a day trip to Capri.
The world is wide. Explore it as much and as often as you can. |

I’m very fortunate that I am one of the best railway journeys in Europe on my doorstep. Glasgow Queen St to Mallaig, crossing the Glenfinnan viaduct, Yes that one in the Harry Potter movie. That part of the world is breathtaking. |
