The only problem I find with citrus on my compost, is when its warm weather, they attract a haze of fruit flies. I chop them up small, but only put them in the compost bin if I have enough other stuff to cover them with which helps. Otherwise I lift the lid and get thousands of them wafting up at my face. |

If you have a lot/often, you can soak them for fertilizer...same for banana skins and the cloudy water when you rinse rice before cooking...
soaking citrus peels in water can create a natural fertilizer for plants, as the peels release nutrients like potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen into the water, which can be used to nourish the soil when applied to plants; however, be aware that it can also increase soil acidity, so it's best used sparingly and on plants that prefer slightly acidic conditions.

I would, especially if it's not got a coated rind. I'd not expect it to be really fast to decompose and would cut it into smaller pieces, to speed breakdown rates. I'd layer it in, with the brown material. |

I bought mine from Amazon, you just add a bit every couple of months.
I did have a wormery, which was great and turned organic waste to compost really quickly, but as I now work away I don't have the time or the waste to use it, so I gave it to my brother.
But theres lots of treatments out there to turn grass and leaves into a form of compost.
Warning; it can become an obsession
