You either die a hero…

The first time I articulated it I was 18, on a bus and a guy in our group offered to tell each if us his honest thoughts about us. I was the only one who said no, because I didn't care.

When I hit 40 and realised there was a lot I wanted to try when I was younger that I’d never done and it was all because of fears about what others may have thought
I decided to live with a “fuck it” attitude ever since |

Once I realised a person’s could have a motive for asking me a question. You can be asked something because that person is interested and empathetic so they want to garner knowledge.
However on the flip side it could be because they want you to provide the stick to beat you with.
I think I came to this conclusion quite early so around my 30’s.
So until I know their motives I couldn’t give a fuck what they think of me or what I do. |

People around me seem to think that I don't care what other people think of me. But that's not true, I care very much... I care so much that I completely stay away from them for fear of saying something stupid.
A random person on the street or internet? No, I don't really care.
But people in a community or group I want to be apart of? yes, I do care. |

I don't think I've fully gotten there but I definitely started after therapy a few years ago. When I started realising that other people's expectations of me didn't align with what I wanted or needed. |

36! I'll be 37 next week, so it took until last year. I do care what people I love/like think about me. I can't see that changing, but I do have a more "fuck it" approach now, and it feels so good! |

"I care. I’ve always cared what people close to me think. Strangers, I’m not sure I’ve ever really cared. Ive never really been one to conform, even when I was young. "
I think everyone except people with personality disorders cares what their loved ones and close friends think.
Whenever someone asks me if I care what others think of me I automatically assume probably wrongly they mean strangers and acquaintances. |

We always will care to a certain extent, and it's especially important what our family and friends think about us.
We care to how we comes across to strangers in a club for example, so we always dress well as first impressions matter. |

True. I do find as I’ve got older that I really do care less and less though. And my tolerance levels are nothing like they were, also my confidence is much better. I wonder why this happens when we’re older when it would have been handy earlier on 🤣 |

Sometimes I care, sometimes I don't.
Depends on who it is and whether it's someone I care about, and probably on my mood too 🙄
I do care much less now about what random people think than I did 10 years ago.. |

15 I suddenly became desensitised to the bullying and came back to school for my last year not giving a fuck.
That attitude seemed to work because the bullying suddenly stopped and I've not given a shit what people think of me ever since |

Apart from one time I can remember when there was a Christmas dance at the local club where all my friends and neighbours were going, where I only had an awful outdated dress to wear, and all my friends had the latest outfits, I don't remember caring about what people thought of me.
I got over the embarrassment of wearing a terrible, drab dress quickly as no one else cared. My friends and schoolmates all had better clothes than me, until I could borrow my sister's stuff without her knowing.
