🌀 Monday Mental Health Check-In: Blue Monday Edition 🌀
Hey everyone,
So apparently, today is "Blue Monday" – supposedly the most depressing day of the year (thanks, marketing gurus). 🙄 It’s a term that was actually created by the travel industry, but regardless of its origins, it’s a good excuse to check in on ourselves and each other. 💙
How’s your mental health today? How are you coping?
For me, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster lately – some ups and downs for sure. But honestly, today feels more up than down, which I’m grateful for. 🙏
If you’re feeling heavy today, that’s okay. This time of year can be tough – post-holiday blues, cold weather (if you're in the northern hemisphere), and those looming New Year’s resolutions that can feel... well, a bit overwhelming. But remember: it’s okay to take a step back, breathe, and just focus on getting through today.
Here are a few things that might help if you’re feeling a bit low:
🌟 Move your body – even a short walk or a little stretching can lift your mood.
🌟 Talk to someone – vent, share, or even just chat about nothing. Connection helps.
🌟 Be kind to yourself – it’s okay to not be okay. Give yourself some grace.
🌟 Find a small joy – whether it’s your favorite song, a comforting drink, or just taking a moment to notice something beautiful around you.

1hr 15minutes on hold to be told there is no Dr and the next appointment is 2 weeks unless it is an emergency in which case call back Thursday at 3 as she can't pre-book an appointment, when I said that I had run out of medication and the issue with my back was affecting my mental health she said dial 111 option two, I asked if they would prescribe painkillers and she said no but they can talk to you about your mental health. The NHS is broken, of to the pharmacy for co-codamol, At times like this I could do a box of wine to mask the pain temporarily but that undoes what I have done so far in not drinking. |

Just as a suggestion re the meds I get mine on repeat online and that way I can order every three weeks and always have a little buffer for emergencies/delays/out of stock. Meanwhile I hope the cocodamol work for you and that you can get to speak to someone to order what you need x |

Sorry to hear that mate, so horrible losing a loved pet, lost my big daft hound 9 yrs this year to cancer, miss him every day. |

Not great. I'm exhausted and miserable which seems to be my standard at the moment. The waiting game for my next appointment is excruciating, theres no rule book of how to just be patient and wait while still getting on with daily life. It's pretty grim. |

Blue Monday was my 40th birthday and it was a mixed day that's left me low since.
Had the day off work, had a lay in but the majority of the day was spent alone. I was able to take my kids out for a meal in the evening which was lovely but had to drop them off back home that night.
As a family we always went for meals, this Xmas and my birthday was the first time spent alone and it's hit pretty hard. Trying to snap out of a potential spiral. |
