Hi all,
I'm an AMAB-NB. Or a bearded crossdresser. Pansexual too. When I'm out at a queer event, I love dressing how I want (see my profile, my posing-on-fab outfits are my going-to-queer-event outfits).
There's a gig coming up in a few weeks, a tribute act to a prog-metal band. The singer of the original band is known for performing in drag-like outfits. The venue hosts all sorts of nights, the queerest of which I have gone to in full "drag" (three or four times).
Does anyone "identify" similarly? Would you go to a tribute act gig in a busy area of Manchester on a Friday night dressed as if it was a queer night? |

I don’t identify as that but I know plenty of people that do. Manchester is an incredibly accepting city and I’m sure you’ll look great. Go with pride and enjoy yourself |

"I totally hate the word queer and I'm straight"
I love the word queer. It was used as a slur for most of my younger life, now it’s being used and claimed as a positive expression.
Plenty of LGBTQ+ people use it now. Being straight though, you probably don’t need to worry about it |

I've attended and promoted many, many "rock" gigs in Manchester over the years and have never seen any issues ever with anything like this.
If anything, seeing as most rock/metal/goth/punk/prog - call it whatever you like - fans are so musically open-minded, they accept and even welcome it. |

I'd never go to a gig trannied up.. simply because despite my age I still like to get down the front in the thick of it...I can imagine my wig flying through the air in seconds makeup sweated off my face.. and as for my lovely pink boots...I dread to think..😹 |

When I was a regular in Manchester village I hung around with quite a few gay and trans friends. The first time I ever ventured out of the village fully dressed as a TV was to the Star & Garter pub near Piccadilly Station.
It was such a great place for a diverse crowd of straight, gay, trans, students, old and young. Famous for its Smiths disco but not the night I went as it was called ‘Bazzin’ or something similar. The DJ that night wanted more gay and trans people to attend as we always brought a good vibe.
I don’t regularly go out these days (admittedly that may change this year) but I certainly commend you for your ability to be who you want to be, keep at it. I often chat to Tgirls who only dress at home never been out, which is a shame. So I certainly would encourage you to express yourself as much as you want.

The real question is, do I spend the afternoon at my favourite monthly bi swinging party in Northwich, then go to Manchester for the gig, then onwards to Basement (gay sauna club, in case you didn't know) or even, back to Northwich for a couple of hours before I head back to Blackburn. |

I would totally disagree. Only gigs that seem to have aggression and tension I've been to are metal gigs. |

do what is right for you go with your ‘gut feelings’ instead of asking a bunch of strangers |
