I’ve had a few…

Is there anything you’ve sold or binned or have to give up that you have ever regretted?

I cleared my parents house and there was a lot of my old stuff from when I was a kid. I got rid of most of it…and now regret that

I regret being young and ideological. I had a 4 bed house in a gorgeous area that I cleared the mortgage by 23. I got married to a single mum and promised I would never see the lad I raised from 1 year old without a safe home. When we split I signed the house over to maintain my promise, I'm proud to have maintained my integrity, sad that I gave up everything I worked so hard to obtain.

I sold my fully restored series 2 rs turbo to a good mate for a measly 2 grand as had not long became a dad, I made him promise me first refusal if he sold it on yet he sold it and didn’t tell me, i loved that car due to the time I put into building it, it’s not even about what it be worth today as just wish I still had it, I still have the odd dream about it one of my life’s biggest regrets

Sad we dumped my CD collection.

Sad we had to dispose of so much from my Grandparents' house but we couldn't keep it all. So many memories

Sold a MK1 XR2 years ago, because I was moving house. Only ended up buying a house with a double garage . It's the only car I've ever regretted selling

I threw out an old white casio keyboard, I think it was PT 1 or PT 10, it was tiny in a leatherette case, it still worked and gave great memories but at the time it was either get rid or have it stay collecting dust.. I didn't think anyone would want to buy them but apparently so.

So many things. I’ve moved around a lot in the past decade and had to sell/bin stuff to make it work, but if I’d stayed put I’d have loads of cool things and would’ve saved myself a fortune. I shudder to think how much money I’ve wasted over the years.

I've made mistakes and been disappointed but I like to move on. It's all we can do that's healthy. Learn and progress

When I was at school I had a (fake) tortoise shell fountain pen with a gold nib. It wrote beautifully and I gave it away! I regret that and giving away a puzzle ring I bought in Turkey

Old computers with loads of games, Spectrum 128k, Amiga 500+, Super Nintendo, PS1 and 2, Dreamcast. All with boxes, my parents kept everything in the attic.

A few Rolex watches I had to reluctantly sell, on a happier note, this really paved the way for me to become now mortgage free!!!!!

Regrets are useless baggage. Once I get rid of something, that's it!

I had a little vespa in my late 20s/early 30s and loved pootling around town on it.

Not sure why but just stopped using it and eventually got rid of it, and that still makes me a bit sad.

If I want to get rid of something material I take pics of it so I can still have a way of seeing it again but don't have to physically own it anymore

When I left my ex - I left my considerable record collection- I still have dreams about it. To replace it would be financial suicide

Not material things no. Its my time, mispent by others, that I regret the most. Unfortunately not something I can control, but the 'I'm never getting those hours back' is frequently in my head

A really nice speaker and an American Fender Strat that I bought for £500. Sold both for £300 (to get as much money for a honeymoon with my ex) to a so called friend who sold them on within 6 months. Still pains me to this day. 😠

Oh I do feel this.

I don't regret getting rid of possessions - if I let go of something it's gone and there's no emotional tie to it.

I do regret time I've wasted, including the time I've spent worrying about stuff that I can't impact anyway. What a waste.

East of Eden, West of Hell

I regret lending 2 people money. But at the time, it seemed the right thing to do.

I wouldn't have made the same mistake the second time, however I was married to the man, and didn't expect to have a change of heart and realise the marriage was wrong.

Hindsight is 20-20, eh?!

Not so much a regret, but I'm still sad I lost a pendant which belonged to my grandmother. My necklace broke, and it fell off, and I could never find it, despite looking everywhere. I think now that it was needed elsewhere more...
