For me... it's when work takes itself too seriously and gets you to 'buy in' to the company mentality and live and breathe the way it wants you to..
I can't stand that. It's just a job.
Turn Up, do your shift, keep yourselves to yourselves and go home.

People that are younger than me by several decades usually. Who appear to be at work. (When they're not ill, due to self imbibing.) To have a good time and socialise.
I sound old and grumpy. Which I apologise for. But the youngsters nowadays appear to have zero work ethic and imho. certainly take the piss. ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

I’m currently working on a small team of 8. There’s 7 men, one woman.
I find myself avoiding any kind of conversation with anyone at all, because i don’t want to get dragged into it. The sense of humour seems to revolve around putting down others. Not my style. |

We both spend 99% of our time working alone, but in previous roles….
The little clique that seems to get away with doing as close to nothing all day as they can while, slagging everyone else off for being lazy.
And new middle managers that come in from outside the business and often outside the industry, who have absolutely no idea how to do their job or mine, but want to stop people doing all the things they have learned over many years because they know better. |

Those emails sent to 58 people who all respond with ‘reply to all’. Every time. For days. Some even skew off into a whole other conversation.
Emails that should have been a phone call because it would have been quicker and less confusing.

Meetings with no pre-preparation. Everyone goes into the meeting without an agenda so nothing gets decided on in the end. Therefore another followup meeting is scheduled! Glad I no longer work in an office. |

The expectation that you'll do more work than you get paid for the set you up for potential promotions. No. Train me for what I'm aiming for and pay me at that rate when I'm doing the job, I'm not doing it for free for the possibility of a promotion that won't be available in this century.
Management talking down to people. We aren't children, talk to people like adults. How much you get paid shouldn't come into it. |
