That’s not what I read. I read that it will start to go “dark” because other service providers (App Store, cloud providers/hosters, networks, payment services etc) that are based in the US will refuse to work with them so it will degrade over time as access is slowly cut off. |

Not necessarily based in the us, just not allowed to be owed by a “foreign adversary “
Anyway US government employees are not allowed to have TikTok on their phones (the UK government basically has the same policy for it’s employees but as an advisory)
But because it’s an actual law, trump can’t override it with an executive order, Biden has said the government will not collect on the “fine” element of the law… internet service providers are supposed to be fined 2000 per day they don’t comply…. Per customer! (With is why the Apple/google App Store will likely take it out)
If they try that get around it someone is absolutely going take it to SCOTUS to make the government have to apply the law!
The other problem for trump is that the actual legislation was republican majority led but with bipartisan support which is why Biden signed it into law!
It’s supposed to come in Sunday… Monday is a federal holiday anyway (MLK day plus the inauguration) so the earliest anything will get done is Tuesday
The under 25’s of America are going to be pissed!!!!

It's going to be used like illegal streaming sites. As one shuts down, another 2 take its place.
The Internet is a beautiful but lawless place. Or at least the law can't cover everything and everywhere all at once. |

They will take down lemon8 so that’s not really an option… from what I hear the “go to” is red note, but some people are running into issues with the way that Chinese censorship rules are being applied |
