With the opposite sex , opinions & things people say that really don’t concern them , seems like every thread there’s an angry little dog under the table waiting to bite….randoms in the world outside fab, in the wrong lane, or standing still at the wrong time, boiling piss and grinding gears over so many trivial things…. Well not everyone , but an awful lot of people.
Serious question. |

Not sure I buy that - people were much poorer in the past and still had a smile on their face sucking on a piece of coal for Christmas.

Because some people don’t have fulfilling lives and insist on taking the worst possible meaning of someone else’s comment, make themself a victim and derail the thread to pretend they’re being personably attacked. Or they’ll acknowledge the other party might have a point but if the semantics aren’t exactly correct they’ll pretend they don’t understand their point.
Tldr: some people are just a bit sad and lonely |

Serious response.
Anger is a valid emotion and whilst I share your view: it's often expressed on trivial matters, perhaps even not the thing people are really angry about, beneath the surface - it is ok to be angry?
I think there's bigger injustices to be angry about than people driving in middle lanes etc, but hey that's just me. I can summarise my frustration with a society that seems to believe they can rule their way to liberty. Like somehow rules stopped being: this is the boundary of acceptable behaviour, so long as you don't cross that you are free to do as you please. To every aspect of our lives is being marshalled, and the rules are a one size fits all guideline to life - we all must follow to the nth degree - applicable in all circumstances without any thought or discretion. I feel like I am in that movie idiocracy most days.
I could be content with that on a level if it somehow led to a greater good, e.g. if people were happy or prosperous. However, as you point out it doesn't seem to be the case. Sure there are some exceptions, but depression and poverty have been rising for some time. And the solution to that seems to be more of the same, double down. It isn't working so let's do more of it.
Most of the time I can just laugh at it, but it is really quite sad watching a society in decadent decay. Everyone trying to step on each others necks to get ahead, but being polite about it. |

"I guess it's a safe space to let off steam."
Maybe - I wonder why ?
I’m on a few other forums, a moderator on one since 1999! But I don’t see this vibe. I see people quick to point out someone is wrong or to push their opinion is the right one, but it’s on topic and never abusive. But on the whole I see people being civil using the forums to give something back |

"I guess it's a safe space to let off steam. We can't all be zen, yoga, guru people.
Life is stressful, people can be flaming daft, everyone's tired 🤷♀️"
Exactly this. I've seen various people start angry, ranty threads over the years on here. People are human and flawed with it. As long as it's not personally attacking someone on the forum, I don't mind it. It's easy to find happier threads. |

Also you just never know what's going on in someone's life.
I have a 2 'safe' friends who I know I can moan to about my dad and won't tell me I'm lucky to have him (I know) or that if their dad was still alive they wouldn't complain (they would)yadda yadda. Maybe these people don't have that |

Yep. The degree of anonymity a site like this can afford also helps people open up, discuss things they wouldn't necessarily if they were face to face with someone. Typing out a bit of a rant doesn't really affect us (unless it's personally directed) but it might help the other person feel a heck of a lot better. |

It’s ok to be angry about injustices and suffering. Who said ‘ Reject the insidious pressures in society that would blunt your critical faculties to all that is happening around you’ He was very angry, for the right reasons! |

"Probably because they read the Daily Mail which panders to their prejudices.
"
Because some people are so desperate for attention that they post comments which they know will upset others - with only tenuous relevance to the topic, if any - just to provoke a reaction.
(And, pre-emptively, I'm not a fan of the Daily Mail. I read all of the national daily press for work reasons. Even folks who know me well couldn't guess my politics.) |

I think there’s some truth there.
It’s a challenge even when voice typing

So off of here……Why do some people drive like there gonna hit the car in front then whack on the brakes all the time and start muttering, banging on about other drivers. I was in a ride like this today and weren’t in any rush, felt like a fucking rollercoaster with an abusive dialog. |

I also notice that angry or click bait threads often fill up very quickly with people pointing out the error of the op ways. If someone posts something deliberately controversial or quite clearly nonsense loads of people feel it's their duty to point it out. |

Because generally, if things are simply calm and content, there isn't a drive or need to comment on them.
It's the extremes either way that tend to be expressed. And a lot of people are too busy enjoying the joys to worry about talking about them to anyone not directly linked to it. Whereas when it comes to the lows the ranting about it to anyone who'll listen is a welcome distraction 💜 |

I think it’s an easy and anonymous place to blow off steam.
Some people post deliberately contentious comments to get a reaction.
I also think most of what you see on here is irritation or frustration rather than deep seated anger.

Nah, that's just rose tinted specs nonsense. My Grandad was brought up in grinding poverty and he told me exactly how shite it was and he worked very, VERY hard to get away from it and for his children and grandchildren never to experience it. |

Life? It's not always sunshine and roses. This time of the year can be really difficult for some. I think the context is huge as to why or how people are coming across as angry too. What we see people post on here is a snapshot of their day, its also the only social media some people use. Have you been on Facebook lately? people can be angry there too.
Personally I'm not going to judge people being angry when I can be a grumpy bitch on here quite regularly but that doesn't mean I am all day every day, it just means sometimes I vent it on here. I could just as easily vent to my friends and come of here full of sunshine and happiness. Not everyone has other people to do that with. |

I think there's alot of real world anger in the uk building up in the last couple of years and can see that in here and in my circle of friends off here, everyone needs a place to vent, when it's here I think it's easy to be caught in and to debate on alot of threads. Think there's that much madness if I wasn't dirty minded I'd be heavily depressed with all the pressures and crap happening in the world and personal life. I vent to a select group of people to keep it off here which helps |

Anonymity goves the illusion of impunity. Also, this place is full of angry male who don’t get any action and they let off steam in the forum.
And I swear some people write clearly insert the effects of alcohol or else… |
