What music would you want to be played at your funeral?

Something meaningful?

Something lively?

Something mellow and sad?

Do you already have your funeral plans in place?

I know the music for my funeral:

Tracy Chapman, Unsung Psalm

Allegri, Miserere

Jerusalem

I am also thinking of adding Fang on his ukulele doing Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time.

My dad was a very left wing guy and believed in revolutions so I had Do You Hear the People Sing from Les Mis played as the doors shut around the coffin in the crem.

Brilliant question!

I'd have cheesy pop blasting out. Nothing sad. And a flash mob would be awesome. Everyone on the front row getting up and doing a dance.

Everyone would be like "WTF??!!"

Elgars 'Nimrod' from the Enigma variations.

Queen's 'Who Wants to Live Forever'

..and finally, everyone gets to sing along with 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' - because I want everyone smiling when they leave.

"Highland cathedral-royal scots dragoon guards

?singing wot song?"

Rise, Caledonia, let your voices ring In this Highland Cathedral of our God and King Whom, joy and liberty, to all, will bring Come; let your heart, with love and courage, sing

Chorus: Lonely the exile, o'er distant seas, The home of their birth, gone from their eyes. Bring back their souls o'er the ocean breeze To the land where their fathers lie.

This song.....!!

I was thinking about this in the car earlier and I'd like to add Stay Frosty by Van Halen and Gary Moore's cover of The Messiah Will Come Again to my list.

My funeral may as well be a gig!

Bridgwater - Somerset

My dad had an old children's hymn 'Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam'

Great choice, even if it did take some time and effort to find the music for the organist.

We did just that for a friend last year. Musicians of all sorts came and performed. It was a brilliant funeral - tiring for me as I was stage managing and compering but what a party.

I love that.

We should have funerals while people are still alive. I know that sounds nuts... !! But all the people that turn up to a funeral to pay their respects...

Seems such a shame that the person couldn't be there to know how much they were loved. x

I said this to some very old friends last year. We hadn't managed to see each other for 18 months or more but I pointed out that they would make the time if I had died to turn up to the funeral. Make time for the living.

I was in a bit of a mood on Sat and said to my friend I wanted When I Was Your Man (i think i got the title right), and to play it really loudly and for her to say to my husband, "that is what you should have done". In hindsight it was a bitchy comment and she did give me a funny look
