So the BBC has decided to have 3 presenter's 2 females and 1 man. Gabby Logan a good all round presenter.kelly cares (never heard of her) and mark Chapman a good football presenter. But why 3 presenter's and can't we have men's football for the men n let the women present all the women's football. |

Kelly Cates, daughter of Kenny Daglish and long time football presenter
As for why 3 presenters, well that’s what there are at the moment.
And as for your second rather sexist question, because it’s the same sport so it’s entirely possible for either sex to comment on it |

Cates has been presenting since 98 I think..
Do you want other things changed such as only male nurses treating men and female nurses for women etc? |

Worthing |
Word is that the gig was offered to Chappers but he did not want to commit to it full time ( He is a single parent of 2 )
It makes total sense. Kelly & Gabby are old hands.
Lets face it, it should be about the content & not the presenters anyway |

Gabby Logan is good.
At least it's not Alex Scott innit.
Guess they'll find out what will happen to the viewer numbers in a years time. Surprised there's no backlash that they are all white though.

And she's Kenny dalglishes daughter. |

Back in the 90s, sky sports news started with like 2 women, 1 black man, and 2 white men.
Nobody cares, it wasn't woke, it wasn't an issue, it wasn't promoted. It was just the best people for the job with some variation.
Today people would lose their minds, because today we're too sensitive, everything is woke, everything is the end of white people.
At least it's amusing. |

This is a subject that always amuses me, we spent years hearing stuff like…
Hansen talks rubbish
Lawrenson is an idiot
Crooks is clueless
And so on.
Then a woman is in the seat and we suddenly think all men are the better pundits. I’ve heard some of these new female pundits explain things in detail far better than some previous male pundits did but likewise, some stumble around and aren’t very informative.
I want the BBC to give me competent pundits nothing else.
Just because somebody played at a high level doesn’t make them good at explaining it. If that was the case Rooney wouldn’t have more P45’s than International trophy’s

I'd much rather have a female nurse treating me!
"
Read it again! With the OPs approach to gender work roles, you'd be getting Naughty Nurse Nigel dealing with your haemorrhoids. Not Naughty Nurse Nancy.
(And I feel I must, like one of those hoover attachments, insert a disclaimer that says nurses are there to do a job, not for anyone's sexual titillation). |

Wow I'm surprised you have tv in that cave. Just so you know someone's gender, race or nationality has no bearing on their ability to do a job. If these women are qualified to do it congratulations to them . Welcome to 2025 you have a lot of catching up to do fella!!! |

Well beg to differ. In the real world gender very much has an impact on their ability to do certain jobs (not all). For example if you're a man you can't play football for a woman's pro football team. Other examples are available. Nor can you play tennis in the women's final at Wimbledon, nor run in the women's London marathon. |

Having said that I’m a big football fan but not a fan of women’s football. I don’t know why but most of the women pundits just annoy me. I preferred it when it was men doing it. If that makes me some sort of “ist” then so be it. |

Your examples are not relevant to the ops somewhat Victorian point..
Men and women equally commentate on tennis matches regardless of the gender of the players on court..
The list of jobs where women have more than capably shown their worth far outweighs the opposite ..
Actually which jobs are men only nowadays, not sure I can think of many at all ? |

I wasn't replying to the op. I was responding to the erroneous comment.
As for sports presenting. I guess we all like what we like. Maybe coloured by what we grew up with. It doesn't make any one victoriana. it's what people like or don't like. I liked Peter alliss and Bill mcclaren. I like Laura Davies and Hazel Irvine, I can't stand nolly waterman or the other screechie one they use. I can't think of a single female pundit in rugby or football who has made my experience better. Not because they are women but because they are crap at what they are doing. Personal preference. Tennis, golf, athletics, rowing, yep there are some great presenters and pundits. I think sometimes peoples preferences are unfairly insulted and criticised. There is certainly an agenda to force more women to the front and if they are good and people like it fair enough. There certainly should be equal opportunity. For what it's worth I thibk gabby logan is also very good at what she does. Although I have noticed the beeb wheel her out anytime they need a woman up front for the box ticking, along with Alex Scott. Personal preference. Not Victorian or anything else. |

Ian Wright is ubiquitous in punditry on the women's game and Jonas Eidevall, recently relieved as Arsenal Women's manager is on often too. Pundits and presenters are mixed genders for all football on telly. |

She may well. And she may be great at the job. Never heard of her. We will find out soon enough.
Daughter of Kenny Dalglish you know. It's not really top trumps of who knows most about the sport but rather as a TV presenter, what they look like, what they say, how they say it and if they are any good at presenting the show...or not if she got the gig because she was the best available to present the show fair enough. |

Some yes, I don’t doubt it. It doesn’t necessarily mean some opinions have some underlying “ism”. I don’t think the banter is the same when the women do it. I also don’t follow women’s football so I don’t know any of them, whereas I know most of the men that do it. It’s what I prefer personally. Doesn’t mean I don’t think women can do jobs men have usually done in the past, also doesn’t mean I don’t think they should do it. |

It's the same as female comedians (stand up more than comedic actors), it's rare that women (not all! Just less) seem to command the same screen/stage presence and attitude. The vibe is very different, and it's not just a masculinity thing. It just feels not quite to hit the mark for the majority.
The a large part of it all is how relatable it is. It's much less appealing it if feels off, as Nora says the banter is not quite there in the same way and for a lot of men the banter of it is almost a glue that holds it all together. I'm not a football fan at all, but even I get that. |

Valid points Nora..
On the banter, women are just as full on as men in teams but regardless of that in the presenting arena they're all equal in abiding by the rules set when on camera..

As others have pointed out out the three are very good sports presenters, have a genuine passion for the sport but most importantly ask questions rather than give their own opinions.
They ask the questions that we as non players/coaches want answered. Chapman on the NfL show gets amazing answers out of the “experts” as he does on MotD2. Cates and Logan have similar skillset.
As to why three? That seems to be the BbC way, helps with cost reductions, if you give one presenter the show they become the “star” that the show is hung on. Shows can become toxic vehicles as a result of the presenter if there is only one, having three mean that if any of the new ones step out of line one of the others can cover and someone else gets dropped in. |

I’ve got a bit of a rule with TV programmes that the OP is welcome to use.
If I put a TV programme on and I don’t like it or don’t like what I see, I either change channel or switch the TV off.
If I like what I’m watching or see. I leave it on.
Hope this helps in some way. |

Mark Chapman is the best football presenter the BBC have by a country mile.
Kelly Cates & Gabby Logan are the daughters of seriously accomplished ex footballers/managers (Terry Yorath is Gabby's Dad), and both are very competent broadcasters |

So what are they being paid?
Not as much as Lineker for the same job!
Logan is getting about a quarter of Linekers salary
So yes they deserve to be there but your misogyny comment should be directed at the patriarchy of the BBC who are appointing with Diversity and inclusion but also cost cutting.
Not us normals.
They may need to save money as so many are cancelling their TV license due to their gaslighting and misinformation spreading.

Seeing as there's only ever 1 presenter and maybe 2 pundits, it's not really statistically significant to analyse. Suffice to say both men and women present and do punditry for football of all flavours. |

"So the BBC has decided to have 3 presenter's 2 females and 1 man. Gabby Logan a good all round presenter.kelly cares (never heard of her) and mark Chapman a good football presenter. But why 3 presenter's and can't we have men's football for the men n let the women present all the women's football.
Do any men present on the programmes showing women's highlights?
If not why not ?
Equality for all ?
Or just when it suits them...
Yes, they do.
And what is the ratio of men to women ?
Seeing as there's only ever 1 presenter and maybe 2 pundits, it's not really statistically significant to analyse. Suffice to say both men and women present and do punditry for football of all flavours.
Oh it is
Shouldn't it be equal ?
Rather than a token man/woman ?
Or is it just because it doesn't suit your narrative 🤔?"
It's never going to be equal when there's 1 presenter and 2 pundits, is it, Mr Stats Genius?! You're always either going to have 3x the same gender (100%) or 2x 1 gender and 1x another (66.6% and 33.3%). You only get 50/50 if you slice Phil Neville in half. |

"Leave the men to the mens football and the women to the women's football. Same with some of the women commentators no passion in their build up during an attack on goal etc. "
Do you not have bigger things to stress about? Like the price of butter, whether your car paintwork is spangly enough or if Nigel Farage's garage is in homage to his favourite pub? |
