Gang jailed after using dating apps to assault and rob
Jump to: Newest in thread
Some 'good' news, from something horrendous. 5 men who used dating apps to lure and meet people, have been jailed for 20 plus years. Based in Birmingham and also meeting in Derby, they caused significant injuries and stole money and valuables of £100,000.
They sometimes covered their faces, pushing people into the ground. Transferred money and used bank cards. Celebrating outside, after spending at a shop, allowed them to be identified.
It's a heads-up for all of us, to ensure that the people we're meeting are identifiable etc. Perhaps a burner phone only, at meetings, without access to your accounts a good idea?
I meet in hotels with CCTV and security but we all still need to be cautious. |

Is that 20 + years combined? Or 20 + years individuals? If it's combined then the sentences are woefully inadequate. |

"I look forward to not watching the Netflix special"
Absolutely. . An organised targeting of people, ending in violent attacks, because they perfected how to seduce people for sex meetings, is something I'd steer clear of.
But it's an awakening into how we could be vulnerable. I guess nice photos and seductive messaging was refined. Perhaps it's not just the men with poor messaging talent we should be avoiding |

"Interesting names they had....."
Interesting take on the story.
Would you have said the same had they been something like James Saville, Paul Gadd, Jeffrey Epstein or Matthew Falder? 🤔 |

"Even as a man I allways leave bank credit cards, and valuables at home on first meet ,"
Very wise.. These awful criminals pretended to be other people and the attractive, friendly person may not exist. |

Very disturbing story. Using sex sites is a way of shaming victims into silence and using Grindr to target the gay community is sickening. Lots of married men/closeted men wouldn’t be able to report for fear of repercussions in their personal lives.
It’s definitely a reminder that regardless if you’re a man or a woman, we all need to be careful. |

I think with a lot of us men your cock gets in the way of caution sometimes ..you really need to think a situation through... and when you're thinking you're going to get your rocks off judgement can become cloudy... it's why I like the verification system on here.. it's not foolproof but it's a good guide.. |
