Growing up we had a family friend who was chief librarian at our local library, she ran the place akin to a military operation!
Any infringement and your library card was revoked for a period of time, this meant they kept your card behind the desk, leaving you begging for its return post ban!
I also recall a coloured card system used to indicate none fine payers, late returners and regular rule infringers to the other librarians!
When she was eventually retired, she died quite quickly afterwards, I’ve never seen so many people at a funeral, before or since!

Forgetting to take things back in time, because it would take me so long to read anything. Unless it was a graphic novel.
Actually, haven't used a library for many years now. I barely read anymore, as I struggle to stay focused. Not many books are printed in Bionic, Open Sans or Verdana. |
