Zuckerberg cancels fact checking

Does not bother me, in the sense that I left FB ages ago, fully knowing it’s a useless place full of sh**.
It’s a bad signal, as it’s basically saying “write whatever, we won’t moderate. We’ll just let the users write a note”. Which means that misinformation will ripe, and community notes, just like on X, will not remove harmful content.
For me, the solution has been to give up social networks (I cancelled my X months ago), and I’m not looking back: they give me nothing more than the news outlet I can consult and who are more reliable, I don’t need them to socialise and my mental health is better because there is less negativity.
So, my advice to everyone is: give up social networks. All of them: X, Facebook, insta ecc. you’ll thank me. But it’s your decision, and if you can’t see the harm they bring…your problem. |

I think Zuckerberg feels left behind by how much Musk has rallied behind Trump.
Overall Facebook isn't actually that bad anymore when it's stripped back. I use it for groups and hobbies and the localised marketplace has it's perks.
X however has sold it's soul. As soon as accounts could be monetised, it allowed disinformation to thrive. People don't care about the truth, only things that suit their preconceived agenda!
Debate is good but leaving to somewhere like Bluesky is just another polarised echo chamber but is too sanitised.. |

He's moving to an "X" form of community policing whilst flooding Facebook and Insta with fake AI generated accounts... So basically the AI generated accounts will be the new fact checkers so censorship by a new name. |

I left Friendface a while ago now, for the third time (I think). All of it does my head in.
I barely use social media these days and only maintain a presence with messaging apps for various people.
I don't do Reddit, Twitter, or any others. Life is better without them. 😁 |

Seems a strange thing to write on social media. That's what Fab is. It's a specialist type, but social media all the same.

Joined FB in 2007 got a new phone on the 27th of December and never installed it, full of crap adverts and literally nothing my friends are up to.
I think for me it's run it's course and is a uselss product, hate the fact that it force feeds political nonsense trying to manipulate my political thought, for me that doesn't fly at all trouble is people that live their life through social media will get manipulated, wonder how certain things would be if social media couldn't use its algorithms in this way.

FB is good for special interest groups, hobbyists etc , don’t use it for personal stuff as I don’t for pretty much anything else , a pretty secure email address , proton or tuta, is all I need for sexy stuff

Makes perfect sense. Where else would the social media crowd read my advice, otherwise? After all, even trump, with his anti establishment bollocks, started advertising on the newspapers that he loathes.
