It's my birthday tomorrow.

My partner has already told me they've not got me anything as they have no money. Understandable, because Christmas... Except they got me a mug and a book, and spent £800 on sex toys and video games for themself. My sister and her husband were meant to be coming over tomorrow evening, but husband is sick so now they aren't coming. Bestie said she'd take me out on Monday to get nails done, messaged her just now and she doesn't remember offering and has other plans. Just feeling a little disappointed. I don't know why I get my hopes up anymore. I'm very isolated due to being basically housebound, and figured the only way I'd get any fuss made is if I arrange it myself, and even that's fallen through.

Yes, this is a pity party, you're all invited. Come sit a while and share a rant, just to get it off your chests and hopefully lighten the load and have a good evening with less on your mind xx

I’m really sorry to hear about that OP. It sucks being let down by others but especially on your birthday. And it must be crap having it in January.

How about doing something indoors you really enjoy? Or can you maybe get to a cinema? Order in a takeaway or make your favourite dish, have a wank and come in the forums lots.

I allow birthdays to pass my by tbh

I don't base my happiness on gifts

I don't rely on others to provide a fix for solitude either

Both my 40th and 50th went largely ignored (admittedly my 50th was at the height of Covid)

Some people rock

Most will, sadly, put themselves before you

I am really sorry you feel shit

My thoughts lie in self happiness and a non-reliance on others to provide that buzz we all need from time to time

Your partner sounds like a self centered shit. I'm sorry your plans have fallen through.

Oh bloody hell …. In this tiny corner of Hampshire the sun is out the whole time you’re welcome to have your own Bathe in it !

So sorry, you are having a grey time right now BUT

You are sparkly and fellows on fab care.

Birthdays have all been just another day for me since my 21st, I never expect anything but normally do from my kids, always work if it's a work day as well.

Sorry to hear about your birthday and plans, please do something for yourself that you can enjoy, but also set boundaries and let those people close to you know how theyve made you feel! Ive nothing to rant about other than standing in dog shit today! (annoying people that dont pick it up) but wishing you a happy birthday, I hope you find some joy in your day! X

My birthday in a couple of days. It'll go past unnoticed but actually I'm ok with that. My pity party is that I'm the wrong side of middle aged. Now that's depressing

Sucks having a birthday round this time of year, I've just got to the point I book a small holiday here and treat myself to a week off work and do what I want..

Worst bit is everything I do is outdoors stuff, the joys of a birthday near the big holidays.
