Improve my cardio fitness. Planning to do a few really tough challenges at the back end of summer so I’m focussed on those. Get shredded and build some specific muscle groups.
Also want to try to properly get back into running |

We both have a marathon in April, I have a 50 miler in June and 100 the month after. Then we both have a 16 mile local race in Sept and C had asked me to accompany her on her first ultra attempt in November.
The plan is to get back to my peak running form. I should be able to get a marathon PB - my last PB was a few weeks after dropping 10lb from what turned out to be a Giardia infection that took weeks to diagnose and was only a few years ago so age is no excuse.
Hopefully this will translate to a top 10% finish in the two summer ultras and leave me well prepped to begin training if I get my dream race place for Jan 2026.
I'm sure C will be on here to elaborate on her goals.

Continue working with my PT on building my strength for running. Rehab from my ACL & meniscus injury is already embedded into my exercise routine, and can see this never changing - plus I really enjoy doing it.
I plan to improve my fitness, run faster and longer distances. I have entered a road marathon in April, a 16 mile road/trail event in September, and I aim to attempt my first trail ultra in Oct/Nov.

"I want big legs, but it's hard eating enough to gain the mass. Also need to get my abs, my stomachs flat and ideal for building my abs"
You’re not going to get big legs and abs/flat stomach at the same time. Pick one and go all out and focus on the other after. |

I'm having a knee replacement at some point this year, and because of the pain and restrictions it put on my exercising, I haven't trained much in the last two years, which has led to loss of muscle and a gain of belly fat
My goal is to regain my upper body strength and by doing so, tone up. I'm also dry Januarying to help with fat loss
I really miss cardio fitness |

Improve my muscle tone if I can, get back to Rockbox which is my favourite gym class and hopefully do some parkruns and another 10k I just don’t really like running
Also considering returning to running club, I’m being badgered by a beautiful forum lady to join her |

My main goal is just to stay as healthy as possible. Having undergone chemo in 2022, the last 2 years have been tough.
But, having said that, I would be more than happy to still look like this (^^^^^^^^^^) come 31 Dec 2025.
So I will keep doing what I have been doing - lots of walking interspersed with some bodyweight training. Sensible nutrition also.
The rest is in the lap of the gods. As they say - ‘You can plan a picnic but you can’t predict the weather’.

Just like to have less bits hurt as I am reaching peak grumpy old man…
So this year .. lost a bit of weight so back and knees don’t hurt as much, but managed to do something to my hip/thigh and my lower right leg…
So I call this year a draw! |

I'm thinking about a return to powerlifting in 2026 so may use 2025 as an extended prep to be at a good point in November when qualifiers start for 2026 competitions.
Bench and deadlift only, squats are out the window.
Given current strength levels a 275kg deadlift and 175kg bench in 11 months is achievable. Come May next year another 15kg ontop of those numbers for competition.

"I'm happy with my weight now so building more muscle and toning is what I'm focusing on this year. Also being more consistent and not slacking off when I simply can't be arsed!" Hi _nomeforyourbone, that is a good goal and to focus on building more muscle and toning too |

I've really let myself go over the last few years. I didn't always look like this. So this year I am determined to lose the weight I've put on and regain the energy I used to have. I don't care about muscle gain or toning all that much but I wouldn't mind increasing my upper strength which has always been a bit poor. |

Made some good progress last year then had to take some time off from the gym and not sure what happened, slipped into some bad habits. So my goal is to get back into a routine and look at some things diet wise that I can stick to long term. |

Have been dealing with a recurring knee injury the last couple years so have struggled to do much exercise and am therefore a bit chubbier than I'd like
So hoping to lose a bit of weight and also work on my knee so I can get back to playing football a couple times a week like I used to
About to head off to the gym now to start the journey |

I'm genuinely at a bit of a loss here. I've been following the same program for a couple of years which has helped a lot, but a couple of back niggles is making wonder how to change things up and maybe reassess my goals from big compound lifts with 1rm testing to more hypertrophy based exercises to just build a good looking physique. |

I’m happy just maintaining where I’m at for 2025 and being consistent with it. 2024 was definitely a year of inconsistency with fitness so I’m determined to stick at it for the full year this year and have no periods of inactivity |

Honestly I'm considering just going back to simple basics. Nothing targeted, no goals, staying active and healthy diet and maybe target keeping a bit toned at most.
I'm getting old and the motivation and desire is just going. |

That's actually kind of how I feel. I've resigned myself to the fact that I don't want to properly bulk, so will just go for general health and aesthetics. |

I did that this last year Kai and just did what interested me as long as I was active. It’s led me to being really into pole so this year everything is focused towards that. |

"200kg on the leg press and 10kg biceps/ free weights
200kg 😂😂😂 really...🤔🤔"
Yeah are you laughing at me!? 😳
My best was 195kg a couple of years ago..gutted that life got in the way and then I stopped going for a while...did 150kg today..I think I'll hit it IF I can be intentional. |

I'm still thinking, before I start my new programme next week. It's probably going to be to reduce my body fat and increase muscle percentages, in the broader sense but I'll figure something out, for the first quarter imminently |

Strength and flexibility.
My upper body has no strength at all but to work slowly and consistently through the year on it.
To get good depth on my squats. I have the flexibility, but I also have the fear of not getting back up again so aim is to concentrate on that. Quality over quantity as they say, 😏 on my weights
And lastly, persuade a lovely lady to return to running club with me |

Need to lose at least 15KG. Weighed myself a few weeks ago and I was shocked at how much I have put on over the last 6 months. What hasn't helped is doing 13 hour days for the last 5 months and eating too many take aways as it's convenient. Also going to get back on my mountain bike now I have time. It was something I had started to do and was really enjoying until I started the long hours at work.

Mainly to be consistent again. Do need to drop the body fat a bit too.
I'm at the stage now where numbers creep rather than race up, but I'm really close to a double bodyweight squat, so I want to make sure I reach that in the next few months, and will keep pushing my oly lifting. |

I'm thinking about maybe signing up to a charity bike ride to give me the motivation to get back on my bike again. I bought a new bike a couple of years ago and I wasn't even in the saddle once last year, that's bad. The thought of not being able to get up those hills that I used to be able to do puts me off starting, which is stupid I know.

You know what Shag - my fitness goals are fucking immense this year.
And they're all SMART.
I won't add more now, but I'm pasting this thread into my diary on 1st June for a 5-month update.
The good, the bad, and the ugly will all be detailed then on here (unless the thread closes first ).

I think I've narrowed it down to I want to lose 30lbs, I want to join the local running club, I want to try paddle boarding, I'm looking at joining a class - something like ice skating lessons, ballroom dancing or burlesque to do something more organised and I'd like to start going on some local hikes. |

This is exactly what I do. My motivation and desire haven’t gone. It’s just different. I wanna be strong and toned , fit and healthy so that I can enjoy life & look and feel good for me and for others to enjoy 😈
Let’s be honest very few women or into bodybuilding bodies or even six packs and the sacrifices and training resume to get them really gets in the way of life.
I also want to stay injury free and train consistently all year round, and whenever I go super heavy that does not happen |
