We used to have a big family party every year when we were children, and at midnight had to leave the front and back door open (good luck in, bad luck leaving) and put a lump of coal coal by th front door.
All the superstition freaked me out a bit to be honest, but the parties were fun! |

Yes parties were common when I was growing up too. First footing was a big thing too. I kinda miss it |

I have no idea what this ritual involves and I'm far too pissed to Google it but it sounds a lot more comfortable than a ritual involving pineapples and red pants. |
