Why would it get iced by the mods? It's a valid question? No? X |

I'd have to say social breakdown! The rise of the chav and the ned coincided with the non discipline at school and at home brought in by the government!
When i was a kid, you knew what would happen when you got home if you got into trouble with the police! There are no deterrents nowadays for the unruly kids, who then grow up thinking the world owes them a living! |

Society wouldn't breakdown nearly as quickly if manners and respect were more of a cornerstone in homes for more parents.
The less emphasis placed on bringing up kids properly, the more of those types of kids make it into the wider world and ruin things. |

"Yes its a valid question
we have whole estates in brum that are just chavs ffs just not right"
Think the government/councils shouldn't build the estates very big, thats when you start seeing trouble! Its the parents who dont give a damm! I was at a busstop last week in a small town and a 2.5 year old and older sister around the age of 5 were throwing stones where the busses turn in. The mother didnt bat an eyelid. So kids think its okay to do things like that! |

I think some of it is down the way society has changed over the years and decrease in communities.
Years ago when I was a kid my folks knew all the neighbours & their kids, if any of use misbehaved we got a clip round the ear from which every parent happened to be near, we were also taught to respect our elders & authority figures (teachers, police officers, lollipop ladies).
Over the years it's changed, we don't know our neighbours and would never contemplate telling someone else's child off for fear of arrest. Kids have started having kids and society is going down the pan because of it.
There is also a level of showing off to get on TV, if I had a problem, for example I didn't know who the father of my child was, I'd bury my head in shame & never tell a soul. That's not the same for everyone, they like the idea of getting a free night in a posh hotel and getting on TV. These are the people that are raising the kids of tomorrow...what chance have those kids got at been any different?

People who want to go on these shows fall mainly into two categories, the 1% for whom everything else has failed and they see that this may be a way to get help or to force / illicit a change in circumstances and the 99% who are happy to shamlessley whoar themsevles out on national TV for (what Andy Wharhol called) their 15 minutes of fame. For some I would imagine that it is a point of pride / honour to have appeared on such shows.
For those who watch them - there are the 1% who do so to see their mates / family on there to 'give them props' for achieving 15 minutes of notoriety. The other 99% sit there wrapped in a blanket of Schadenfreude; quietly congratulating themselves that, though they are watching it on TV, their lives are nothing like that and deriving sense of pleasure from it. |

Not all people who appear to look like a chav are uneducated lowlife scrounges.
My youngest son is from a well educated family, we both worked full time, he had an excellent education, he's been in full time employment since leaving school - never taken a days sick leave in 6 years, he saved up £6k to buy a car so he'd have no debt, doesn't drink alcohol but he does smoke cigarettes.....and dresses like a stereotypical chav but is a very well spoken, polite, well mannered young man. |

Indeed. My post was trying to avoid the notion of stereotyping - that all who appear on such shows are 'Chavs'.
Rather, its a state of mind, rather than a state of 'social status' - so to speak. |

I know the answer.
They were invented by Burberry in the early 90's as a publicity stunt that went terribly wrong. It involved splicing the genes of a baboon, a rat, the Burberry Check and a Greggs Cheese and Onion pastie. They are made in a large warehouse in Guangdong Province China. |

Those of us who've faced their own stereotype know that. I was annoyed when my sister quipped at my daughters wedding "what a shame my niece has married a chav!"
Ex navy, ex marine, own company, own house, own car at age 24. Chav?!! I think not! |

as an aside..
The Chav's Prayer
Our father who art in prison,
Even mum knows not his name,
Thy chavdom come
You'll read the sun,
In Exmouth, which is in Devon,
Give us this day our welfare bread and
Forgive us our ASBO's as we happy slap those who got ASBO's against us
Lead us not into employment but deliver us free housing
For thine is the chavdom, the Burberry and the Barcardi
Forever and ever

Neither. Chavs and neds have been about far longer than jezza has been on the air! He is exploiting a niche in the market i'll grant you. But, take him off the air and they will just congregate outside greggs! At least we know where they are when hes on air! |

No, but it wouldn't be the "highlight" o daytime tv that it is for some. There are many who view getting on the Jeremy Kyle show as a badge of honour. Which encourages more bad behaviour and the cycle continues evermore. |

How to turn urself into a chav:
1. Ditch all normal and perfectly acceptable clothes, and wear some shabby tracksuit. Oh dear, u noticed that the trousers are too small, ah well tuck 'em in ur bright yellow socks n no1 will notice.............yea rite.
2. Grab urself a baseball cap and any old chains that look sparkly....
3. Now, shove your hands in ur v. tredy tracksuit pockets and learn the chav walk- sweep each shoulder down, forwards and then upwards making an arch and drag your body along with your shoulders.
4. Now, light a cigarette and suck ur life away on it (some how thinking this is the coolest thing to do).
5. The most important thing to to learn to speak propa. this cannot be taught, like most accents im afraid you'll actually have to hang around with the chaves and hope to just pick it up.

When i was a kid, you knew what would happen when you got home if you got into trouble with the police! There are no deterrents nowadays for the unruly kids, who then grow up thinking the world owes them a living!"
I have a perfect example of the culmination of these points: a child I work with has been told by his family that I (or other adults) can't make him do anything (ie school work)
He will refuse and when we don't let him do his chosen activity and he begins throwing things at me(/us) and starts physically assaulting me. As we I tried to restrain him yesterday he tried repeatedly to stab me and threatened to stab himself (he did have a very sharp blade)
Its is the fault of the adults that he did this according to mum. He has been told to assault us if we touch him.
She believes that we are failing him because we can't get him to learn.
After sending one adult to hospital and seriously injuring 3 more. His mum congratulated him and he came back the next day and assaulted 4 again our fault and he 'did the right thing' and got new clothes.
I'd also like to add that this child is under 10 and therefore below the age of criminal responsibility.
Btw we are also supposed to improve his behaviour at home.
Jezza indeed.

"These horrible little Jeremy Kyle creatures. What do you think has made them? Is it social breakdown or fuckwit parents? Go"
The reality is the number of Kyle show fuckwit contestants are low and they are actively sort and offered a posh hotel and a night on expenses to get them there. Saying that though it doesn't manufacture them or I presume not so they come from how life has seen them brought up either by family or who ever. |
