Has anyone got one of those things you can buy so you can watch sky TV in another room without having to pay £10 a month for a multi room subscription? I watch a lot of TV in bed and I've only got crappy freeview built into my TV and don't wanna pay out for multi room each month! Are they any good? Xx |

Instead of using a magic eye. You are better off buying sender sets from Argos for about £30-£40. These send the signal from the sky box as we'll as being able to use the remote from a different room to change the channel. Saves you having to run a coax cable from your sky box to a different room. |

They are not that reliable in terms of signal though. Depending on the type of building you are in. |

I'm in a building made of bricks! Does that help? First floor flat. Freeview signal is generally pretty good! |

Piece of cake then. Get a lead, plug one end into the rf2 connector at the back of your box. The other end to a Magic Eye, then into your TV. Jobs a good un.
Oh then turn on the power to RF2 in the sky settings otherwise the remote won't work.
.

I had the roof freeview ariel thrown over the roof, and drilled it in, next to my wall mounted tv, (In my bedroom)
Then I ran a 10m coax from my tv, up into the loft, across the house and down into the kids bedroom to where they also have a wall mounted tv. The thought of having to run more cables to watch sky upstairs
I'll stick with freeview and using the planner and just downloading anything else onto the sky box |

Stay away from the wireless 'senders' they are not always good and can be prone to interference from external sources.
The Global TV link is the best way to watch and control your Sky box from a different room.
It comprises of an IR receiver (Magic Eye) and an extra remote control. A fresh able needs to be run from your sky box to the room of your choice (or distibution amplifier if you intend to feed more than 1 room) For the purpose of this explanation I'll assume it's only going to one TV though.
The cable at the Sky box has to be connected to the RF2 outlet, the other end being connected to the magic eye then into the TV.
After doing this, you will have to go into the Services menu and enable the 2nd RF outlet power supply - this is what powers the magic eye, via the coax cable.
Once it's all done and dusted you can then go to bed and have full control over your Sky box although you need to bear in mind if you change the channel on the 2nd TV, the same will happen to the main TV if someone is also watching Sky on there, however assuming you also have a terrestrial aerial and digital TV's, both TV's will have the option of watching freeview or Sky. |

Depending how long you have been with Sky threaten to leave because either a) you have a better offer or that you haven't got the use for it as you wanted it in your bedroom too and it's too expensive.
I threatened that and got the 2nd room for £2 a month on a 12 month contract.... |
