World's Strongest Man 2024

Yes, I’ve been watching since a child and the early days of Geoff Capes too.
It’s not Christmas without strongman.
Finally went to my first live events this year at the utilita arena (shown xmas eve on tv) and the Arnold’s strongman at the NEC.

My hubby and I always watch it at Christmas (and any of the Giants Live, etc) without fail.
We were both brought up watching it, and it's nice that we both snuggle up together watching beefcake, and wondering just how hard Terry Hollands was was going to crash out that particular year. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

It was better edited on BBC |

Yes, dropped lucky on both occasions. Really good views.
The Arnold’s at the NEC they changed the format of the 2 days at the last minute and included the strongwoman comp as well which was just as good! |

I don’t think they filmed any of the Arnold’s even though I think it may have been a qualifying event for one of the other comps.
The women’s was really good, as good as the men’s event and in my opinion should get more support, but in order to do that they need to market it correctly.
Looking forward to seeing the event next year too.

They didn't change the format the Arnold uk is always 1 day mens. 1 day womens.
It's not televised it's all amateurs like 99% of strongman/women's comps. Even the guys at worlds aren't professional apart from the top top guys.
And as for marketing the women's and the weight class guys is far more interesting than what you see on TV problem is the sport started as an entertainment thing building on Circus strongman therefore everyone wants to see the biggest weights moved which unfortunately will always be the opens men. If you know where to look you can find far more than what's on TV at Chris |

Well, when I purchased the tickets for the Arnold’s, I had to purchase day 1 tickets (sat) and day 2 tickets (sun).
The women’s event was separate tickets and times to the men’s events.
So, when we went, the men’s events were still sat/sun and they included the women’s.

Just finished watching this year's. No spoilers!
What a final. I'd have liked to have seen more events rather than a rundown of what had already happened. But still entertaining. Congrats to the winner |

Sure, we had the almost mandatory "British competitor dropping out due to injury", but the one this time was really quite a shock! By rights, he should have at least been on the podium. |

"Anyone else have WSM as a Christmas tradition? Watched it for as long as I can remember."
You confused me OP, when I read WSM, I thought what's Weston Super Mare got to do with strong men?
Now the penny has dropped, I don't watch it anymore but I loved it as a kid when Geoff Capes (RIP) ruled supreme. |

"Yeah I love watching it… just for the sport obviously, nothing to do with the big strong sweaty men 😉"
I couldn't take my eyes off the cameraman on roller skates, skating backwards during one of the events. I found it way funnier than I should have |
