Men, why do you not wear skirts
Jump to: Newest in thread
They're incredibly comfortable, as it turns out. Maximum freedom of movement. And.. swing.
You can call them kilts if you're Scottish or feeling a bit squeamish about calling them skirts.
But overall I think men need the groin freedom a skirt affords you much more than the ladies.

If I’m at home, often, I will slip into a skirt and tights.. just the bottom bit, and find it comfortable …. but sadly, would never have the confidence to wear the same in public, but do so when I’m out as Rachel - obvs!
I have worn a kilt a good few times, and been out to events … including sports games, BUT, have this observation …. many times when walking down a street in a crowd, or stood in a bar, have I felt a hand creeping up my leg, or someone attempting to lift the kilt - almost always a woman / women, and usually have had a drink! - the point I make is, if I tried to do that to a woman in a skirt ever’, I’d be dragged off and accused of sexual harassment, etc. I once did object, and was laughted at and told ‘well I shouldn’t wear a kilt then!’

Been groped and stroked at weddings a few times. But you’re meant to laugh it off, it can be tedious.

I think it would take immense courage for a straight or gay guy to walk down the street or go out at night in a skirt (not kilt). Even more than when I do it in a wig, makeup and hoping I pass as a woman.
So any guy who does decide to express himself or free himself from the usual rules of society and what a man should or shouldn’t wear, gets a massive pat on the back from me.
Let’s not forget that a woman decided that trousers were not just for men and no doubt she was criticised at the time for ignoring the zeitgeist and kicking down barriers.
Go guys

I went to a gig once where one of the Security staff wore a kilt. OK, it was made of leather because this was a metal gig but it was still a dude in a skirt at the end of the day.
He was a nice and chatty guy who treated us punters as the music fans we all were and not the scum off his boot (so no prizes for guessing this was nothing to do with O2 or ticketmaster) but you knew straight away that anyone able to dress like way for that job was not someone you wanted to mess with. |

I've got myself a black "modern kilt", because I don't want to wear tartan (not Scottish, and.. I don't like tartan 😶) and I wanted it in a modern fabric I could wash regularly.
It's great. It's comfortable, it has pockets (!), it fits in with the rest of my current (jeans+t-shirt) wardrobe. It's fine in this weather (for me, at least). I don't have crotch material holding me back when I want to take stairs two at a time or whatever else - I could definitely go to the gym in this, and I think I might start.
Probably the best clothing for squats, at least.
The only thing I feel silly about is calling it a kilt. It's so far away from a kilt at this point, the connection is incredibly tenuous. It would be like coming up with an alternative name for trousers just so women would wear them. |

actually they do where skirts
as soon as they wrap a towel around them they are using a wrap skirt
they also walk around in a wrap skirt as well
so any male that denys they where a skirt is a liar |

Unless I lived in a hot climate, no way would I wear a skirt, kilt or sarong. My nuts would vanish, along with the sausage. When in Bali 20 odd years ago, a sarong was an absolute blessing! Wearing a kilt in Scotland in the middle of winter? No wonder Scots are known for starting fights, I would too, just to try and warm up the nuts! |

I'm actually finding it's not that cold? Maybe it creates a microclimate down there.. |

"Apparently you can get a workman kilt with pockets etc. I'll look out for one. "
In the gulf and Asia men wear long dresses & sandals , it’s normal & perfect for the heat. It’s almost unheard of for westerners to wear them, expected to wear suits, shoes and socks even in 40-50 degrees heat |

"Boys I'd recommend skirt wearing in the warmer months. It would be a bit chilly and drafty this time of year! "
can you imagine an organised meet event for everyone
A skirt only organised meet (ladies skirt/dress, kilt or other)
you ladys have to put up with it on many events so why not the men
then at least they can feel what its like this time of year a bit chilly and drafty |

When I did my first visit to Cap D'agde a lot of guys were wearing sarongs. They are extremely comfortable and easy to wear |

Through medieval and renaissance periods, endless men wore skirts in Europe and have done in other periods, it is nothing unusual. Kilts yes are widely worn and widening the topic, kaftans are standard all over the world, esp in Islamic countries. I do wish people now were more open-minded and practical about skirt useage. Especially in summer it's a great idea. I wear arabic kaftans around the house and when on holiday in warmer temperatures. Mainly for comfort and it hugely saves on washing. |

I'd be game if it became more of a common sight. I'm often commando anyway as I like the let the air in, so a kilt/male skirt fashion would be something I'd be happy to see. Let the cock and balls loose! |

"The same reason I don't wear any other women's clothing, I'm not a woman or cross dresser. "
It's pretty crazy how we just decided skirts are for girls and trousers are for boys.
Except, now girls get to wear trousers.
But boys aren't allowed to code, because that's women's work.
Is this really what Jesus would have wanted? |
