"Extremely high winds.
Pool area closed
Awnings closed
But it's 24°C
What can you do?!
Cocktails and sex. Then read a book and relax whilst listening to the wind and rain"
Activities must involve a medium sized child and zero alcohol, for medical reasons.
Top Trumps is being worn out! |

A note has just been put under our apartment door:
Due to the alert for hurricane force winds in the area, we kindly ask that you take the following precautionary measures:
- Close all awnings
- Do not leave objects outside on the balconies which could blow away
- Secure all items that cannot be brought inside
We recommend you remain in your room and avoid going outside until conditions improve.
(We also had a rushed visit from a hotel maintenance guy who dashed through our apartment and onto the terrace to inspect the Christmas decorations that are above)
Happy holidays!
Anyone fancy tea and biscuits indoors? |

You bastard
It IS 26°C. And we have the option of limited room service. And, assuming it's safe for staff to attend work, someone will do the cleaning for us (not that it needs doing!)
But yes. We did hope for more sitting by a pool and beach-going! We've got 12 more days. 12! |

"Oh blimey, that's scary.
How high up are you?"
Pretty high! The hotel is built into the hill with all terraced facing the sea.
The schools are all closed tomorrow here, the neighboring island had power cuts overnight and there have been some things like traffic lights blown over and falling masonry hitting someone elsewhere further north. We're up on the north west edge of the island and getting the brunt.
Good job we brought Uno and Top Trumps! |

"The island is pretty tough, well used to high winds.
Order some Canarian potatoes with mojo sauce and a lush steak.
"
Yeah, the island will be just fine, we know that. Just a smidge of disappointment that we're confined to base with most hotel installations (quite rightly) closed today and probably most of tomorrow.
We didn't bring a liquidiser to permit the steak idea |

You'll not have 22 more days of this state, though Looking forward to hearing how things improve for you |

"Is it all the islands affected or just whichever one you’re at ?"
This one, mainly the northwest and the other two most westerly ones. The ones further east apparently have little/no issues. I believe the Atlantic side of Spain and Portugal are also experiencing Storm Dorothea. |
