Terry Pratchett will always be my favourite author.

Others I like include, Barbara Erskine, Diana Gabaldon, Sharon Kay Penman, Anne Rice, Jasper Fforde, Robin Jarvis, Neal Shusterman, Ben Aaranovich, Brandon Sanderson, Bernard Cornwell…. This could go on for a long time

I’ve always been a fan of Bernard Cornwell for the sharpe novels after growing up loving the Sean bean adaptations, I’ve been reading the reacher novels lately by Lee child which are all pretty good too

I'd read anything of Claire Boylan's or Fredrik Backman. I like listening to Charles Dicken's books but struggle to read them.

He has the perfect blend of comedy, crime, story, farce and plausibility.

Everyone in his books acts in a natural way, no matter how bizarre the situation they find themselves in. The dialogue is especially naturalistic.

In one of his books, a will is being read and the stiff has hired a barber shop quartet to sing, 'You've got fuck all' to a relative they particularly disliked.

I don’t know if I have favourites, but this year I’ve enjoyed some of Kim Stanley Robinson’s books. The Ministry for the Future was a stand out. Strong male and female characters and a message of hope.

Only read of mouse and men. I did get through the lotr though. This is what I mean when I say king is often regarded as a lesser author, when compared to these he's very low brow right? What are your honest opinion on him?
