It’s a little thing to get wound up about.
In the grand scheme of fab, they’re largely inconsequential.
Don’t delete them, the sender can’t do a repeat one. Don’t look at the who winked me page.
Sorted.
Fab’s a piece of piss to complete. |

It funny how we all look at fab differently.
I don't want messages atm, I've asked for no messages but it wouldn't occur to me to ban people because they haven't bothered to look.
I like the winks because that implies to me maybe they have read it and decided to respect my wishes but have still left a little calling card so I can see if I'm interested.
For all the shit that is banded around on this site I wouldn't be wasting my time blocking people who wink, send friends requests or messages. |

Alot of people make similar posts here about recieving too many messages and such. So is a wink not to show interest without annoying them with a message. And if they send a wink back it's like an ok to message? I don't know, just what I was thinking |

Just to add, I'm finding this site very contradicting depending on the post you read. Its great to see people here say they prefer a message. But I've read other post about prefer winks. It's such a confusing space to navigate. |

I know women constantly complain about the amount of messages they receive, so instead of using my brain and right thumb to write a message which will ultimately go unread for a week and then deleted without a reply, I'll bang in a cheeky wink. If they respond, great, if not there's no time lost on writing pointless stuff. |

I don't find them annoying at all. However I tend not to take notice of them. So I click on them and then straight back off just to clear the notification.
My husband will go through them and will highlight any people of interest to me.

I wouldn't block someone for sending a wink, but I don't check my winks so it's a bit of a wasted effort for me
What are you meant to do, wink back?
I've never bothered with it outside of threads here where people have asked for winks or complained about never getting them so I'm not sure how it all works. |

"Pointless exercise. Just message. I can only assume people do the blanket thing; send to loads in the hope that one responds back. "
Why is there always this assumption that winking is a form of carpet bombing?
Surely winks can be targeted and used judiciously? |

Fair point and I’m sure they can. However. We regularly get the same cut and paste message from lots of different people, days, weeks or months apart. So carpet bombing of cut and paste messages exists. Logical it does (to a degree ) also exist with winks. |

I've received winks and take it as a compliment and a clear sign that if I want to talk then it's a go ahead. I only send if the profile asks for it. Included quote above as think that's a very decent thing to do. I've had some messages read and ignored, others just deleted. The few that have responded with a polite no thanks does seem a nicer way to say no than ignorance. Understand that couples and ladies do get a lot of contact though and can't spend forever on here. I guess each too their own. |

Yep, it is polite. Not everyone's the same though. To be honest, I'm not sure why people get so wound up about receiving a wink. |

maybe they are shy.
Maybe they only sent ye that 1 wink that day, maybe it took them a bit of effort to balls up to send that one wink. Or
Maybe they were perving away over tea and crumpets and came across you guys and thought ohhh yes and winked before reading the news print.
But it won't be long before ye have them, ,,The Winkers,, all blocked folks, and then all will be right in the world, |

"I find it bewildering when someone winks , you then message saying thanks for the wink and proceed to chat, then they don't reply . What's that about ?"
The 'proceed to chat' piece might not strike the right chord. |

It's really interesting to see the negativity to winking.
I always viewed it as the soft approach taking up less time for the woman and certainly less mental load for her too. She can then read my profile and decide if she wants to initiate contact.
I haven't had any response to the winks I've sent but then I read a profile earlier this week where a woman had had 4000 messages since joing 2 weeks ago...so... Probably just keep winking. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds them so annoying. In capitals on my profile as well. They send them, reply with a wink nothing happens. Reply with a message, nothing happens. Will never understand people who wink, just waste both our time |

Here’s a thing, OP, you have a profile on a site which has winking in its functionality. Whether or not you like or want winks, you’re gonna gettum!
Prolly best to just ignore that little tile and glide dreamily on through your fab journey as works best for you 😊 |

I like spreading smiles so going to wink you lovely ladies that have said you like them. Would tip you a wink if we passed in the street so you can definitely have one here. Nothing expected just spreading the love |

Negating the purpose of the wink and therefore creating the 'Wink Paradox' |

Because everyone knows fucking everything about everyone, apparently
The judgement and supposition from some on this site is just amazing, people need to look at themselves first
Surely winks can be targeted and used judiciously?"

" Well think about it if he'd sent a long winded message based on your profile that exactly fitted your requirements and sent a face pic so spent say half an hour per message and sent 7 messages all based on the profile and you looked at the face pic and deleted all without answering how deflating is that for the sender, so instead now he sends a wink you look at profile send him a short message asking for a face pic then you delete the message without answering who's wasting who's time ? |

We don’t mind winks - we’re happy to wink back if we like the profile.
We also wink occasionally and if it’s reciprocated, we’ll message. However, we do check and if the profile we’re interested in says no winks, we’ll message instead. |

I'm less likely to respond to a wink than a msg though, winks just get deleted. |

The fact that a woman gets 4000 messages in two weeks can only mean that almost 4000 people messaging her are probably idiots.
Even if I happened to be looking for meets I would only message someone who is exceptionally likely to be suitable, is local, who has clearly stated that they are looking for someone very like me, meets various other criteria and, even then, I would probably start the ball rolling with a wink.
On dating sites, swiping right is effectively the same as winking. If interest is noted and reciprocated, then things can be ramped up a notch. That is a system which has worked well for me elsewhere. It could work here also but for the evident preponderance of unrealistic chancers pushing their luck. |

"How many have you had since you posted this? 45 blocked 45 but I assume half were just wind ups"
It must be the lucky day for mischief making upwinders when people are daft enough to admit to being easily wound up by something as inconsequential as winks on here! |

I don't mind getting winks. Shows they have a least a little interest in me.
I'll look at winkers profile and if it seems worth pursuing then I'll send a thanks message and see where it goes from there??? |
