So ignoring the big debate of the overall best Christmas movie.
Which is your favourite version of A Christmas Carol. It's been done and redone again many times, some good, some bad, some with their own unique twist.
Which is your favourite version of this essential Christmas story?
For me it will be Muppets everytime. |

I like them all as it's a great story but the Robert Zemeckis one with Jim Carey is great.
Or the George C Scott version from 1984 is great.
Carry on Christmas might top the lot but don't think I've seen that. And Blackadder must get a notable mention. |

"I love the choral versions of "once in royal david's city".. It gives me goosebumps "
I love choral Christmas hymns and songs.
I have The Vienna Boys Choir singing Christmas songs on my YouTube playlist.. |

I can only recall watching three different versions of A Christmas Carol.
I loved them all as each had their own appeal.
Michael Caine's Scrooge wasn't as dark as Alastair Sim's, and I felt more warmth at the end from George C Scott's Scrooge.
I'm going to have to watch all three before Christmas.
I don't fancy the 2009 version from Disney as I don't particularly like that animation-even though I loved The Polar Express. |

"Muppets, of course. The best Christmas film of all time, it should have got an Oscar.
Plus it put Michael Caine on the map. No one would have heard of him if it wasn’t for the muppets
😂🤣"
“Even the vegetables hate him”
“My mother always taught me to never eat singing food”
“If you please Mr. Scrooge, it's gotten colder, and the bookkeeping staff would like to have an extra shovel full of coal for the fire..”
“We can't do the bookkeeping, all our pens have turned to inkcicles!“
“Our assets are frozen”
“How would the bookkeepers like to be suddenly... UNEMPLOYED!?!“
“HEATWAVE!”

Yes the Muppets, it's the most accurate reflection of contemporary western culture.
Which was a large part of Dickens work.
One could say The Muppets are a modern interpretation of a Dickensian reflection on society.
Oh it's over 30 years old. Maybe South Park should do a version. |

"I need to find me a man who can accommodate to watch A Christmas Carol with, while we drink hot chocolate and eat Christmas themed snacks."
I'm in... Booked a cosy AirBnB too. I can pick you up from the station. |

The 1984 one with George C Scott as Scrooge. It's the one adaptation which grounds the character in as much reality as possible. The cast is incredible, bringing together just about every acclaimed British character actor on the books, and there's a genuine sense of joy to be found.
The wife and I watch it every Christmas Eve with a couple of beers.
