So ignoring the big debate of the overall best Christmas movie.

Which is your favourite version of A Christmas Carol. It's been done and redone again many times, some good, some bad, some with their own unique twist.

Which is your favourite version of this essential Christmas story?

For me it will be Muppets everytime.

It's definitely the muppets for me too. I watch it every year, usually as I wrap presents.

Muppets, of course. The best Christmas film of all time, it should have got an Oscar.

Plus it put Michael Caine on the map. No one would have heard of him if it wasn’t for the muppets

I like them all as it's a great story but the Robert Zemeckis one with Jim Carey is great.

Or the George C Scott version from 1984 is great.

Carry on Christmas might top the lot but don't think I've seen that. And Blackadder must get a notable mention.

I can only recall watching three different versions of A Christmas Carol.

I loved them all as each had their own appeal.

Michael Caine's Scrooge wasn't as dark as Alastair Sim's, and I felt more warmth at the end from George C Scott's Scrooge.

I'm going to have to watch all three before Christmas.

I don't fancy the 2009 version from Disney as I don't particularly like that animation-even though I loved The Polar Express.

The 1984 version with George C Scott was filmed in Shrewsbury. There is still a gravestone for Ebenezer Scrooge at St Chad's Church

“Even the vegetables hate him”

“My mother always taught me to never eat singing food”

“If you please Mr. Scrooge, it's gotten colder, and the bookkeeping staff would like to have an extra shovel full of coal for the fire..”

“We can't do the bookkeeping, all our pens have turned to inkcicles!“

“Our assets are frozen”

“How would the bookkeepers like to be suddenly... UNEMPLOYED!?!“

“HEATWAVE!”

For me, it has to be Jim Carey’s animation… it’s a staple watch every Christmas Eve Evening… curled up with a glass of Gluwein too 😋… it really gets you in the mood.

Yes the Muppets, it's the most accurate reflection of contemporary western culture.

Which was a large part of Dickens work.

One could say The Muppets are a modern interpretation of a Dickensian reflection on society.

Oh it's over 30 years old. Maybe South Park should do a version.

I’m always going to say muppets, but the Jim carrey animated one was very close to the actual book I thought and enjoyed it for all the negativity it received

Scrooged for me. I want to like the Albert Finney version but the musical parts a bit tiresome.

Bladder funniest but different take on the story.

One of the reasons Muppets is so good is because Michael Caine took to the role as if the Muppets were actors themselves, instead of just puppets.

Always hated the puppets version but it's hubby's favourite so I have to watch it every year. Watching the kids watch it has given me a new appreciation for it.

The 1984 one with George C Scott as Scrooge. It's the one adaptation which grounds the character in as much reality as possible. The cast is incredible, bringing together just about every acclaimed British character actor on the books, and there's a genuine sense of joy to be found.

The wife and I watch it every Christmas Eve with a couple of beers.
