Looking to get away next December and am thinking of pushing the boat out and heading to SE Asia. Only problem is it's a massive area and so many places look incredible. I'm past the partying and drinking stage so looking more for scenery and culture. If anyonce has recommendations of places to visit or best booking options fire away. Bali, Indonesia, Japan are on potentials list. Anywhere that's easier to get to from Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow airports scores bonus points! Always good to dream of sunnier climes when it's so grey here. |

I’m heading to Vietnam next December for 1-2 months. Cambodia & Laos is also nice.
Even Thailand is nice once you get out of the cities and off the islands where all the teenagers are.
If you haven’t been I’d recommend going north to ching Mai & China Rai. I would but bother doing any tourist trips you’ll be surrounded by idiots, just take the bus from Ekamai station. If you really want an adventure head up into the Lahu villages on the right 30-60 mins before Chiang Mai , you’ll need to thumb a ride from the main road but it’s easy |

"Id go to Thailand, genuinely the best looking trans girls in the world and in Bangkok they are everywhere and just so stunning and always up for fun x "
Haha pervert
You do know most in SE Asia are trans purely for economic reasons, remember that when banging them, they’d much rather have a girlfriend |

I’ve gone from manc in the last 6 or 7 years, either emirates or qatar and to Saigon .. but if u aren’t in a really tight time line, see about landing in Bangkok if cheaper, cuz land travel is cheap, just the borders to negotiate… oh and don’t expect to much luxury lol … I flew to Saigon, but missed my connection in Dubai, so emirates put me up in an hotel and got me on the flight the next day…
But you are now coming in or in the dry season in SE Asia |

"Also having done it I wish I didn’t do overnight train
Done the train a few times, great experience but u defo need a shower afterwards lol "
Was in Central Asia recently Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan- couldn’t believe how good the trains are compared to UK. “Sleeper” tickets are huge reclining comfy seats like business class flights with power, WiFi and snacks….guessing SE Asia trains not as fancy ? 😂 |

"Cheers. Indonesia and the temples etc. look stunning. Some proper good food for thought from comments. "
Indonesia is a good option, it’s a big long string of islands connected by very cheap ferries. You can go all the way from East Timor through to Malaysia and southern Thailand.
It’s not really got the temples and spirituality of the other countries (Othern than centres like Ubud in Bali) and the food can be a bit boring away from tourist spots, but it has beautiful beaches, mountains, volcanoes and when you get up into Sumatera nice jungles. |

MADERIA Wherever I lay my hat |
Was in SE Asia for 5 months last year. Indonesia is amazing. Don't go for the usual Bali shite places. Java volcanoes were incredible. Heading east through the Tengerras through the Komodo NP and east is stunning. I didn't get to Sumatra or Indonesian Borneo but the rainforests of Malaysian Borneo were incredible.
Other than Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand all offered a fantastic array of nature, epic road or rail journeys, adventure, temples etc.
I flew in and out of Singapore as it was cheapest at the time but mainly Bangkok seems to be the cheapest option. Once you are there flights, trains and buses are all plentiful, cheap and easy to book.
Enjoy! |
