Darth Vader: Why is he so popular?

One for the Star Wars nerds. 😆

Potentially unpopular opinion: He's just a Jedi masquerading as a Sith. He's an insult to the Sith name!

Granted, outside of the films, he has done some fairly bad things and killed at least 150,000. But in the end, he still rolled over to have his belly tickled at the slightest chance of redemption.

A true Sith would have never given up such power.

Not to mention, there were far stronger and interesting Sith, the further back you look. I guess that's just what you get for looking into the Sith lore and enjoying eras such as The Old Republic.

Still, I've never liked Vader. Not even a little bit.

You're not alone - all those rebels didn't like him and nor did Captain Needa's wife.

Not to mention he's incredibly powerful, the comics are awsome.

Sagittarius A

The balance between good and evil - the conflict within him.

How his passion for those he loved fuelled his anger, lust for revenge and thirst for power - so that he could bring his vision of justice and order to the galaxy.

Both the Sith and the Jedi sought to utilise his power to fit their perspectives and agenda, in the end he fulfilled his destiny - to bring balance to the force through self-sacrifice.

We love a bit of messianic self-sacrifice, it's a familiar trope, for some reason.

In all fairness, he is probably still the coolest villan in the current canon, with the Disney Retcon a lot was discarded (So they could sell their own shit). I agree there are more interesting Dark side dwellers for me I liked Joruus C'baoth.

Because his outfit is clearly a throwback to when costume departments in the UK of the 70's thought, 'whack some big buttons with lights on the front. No one will watch this shit.'

It is literally just his voice (RIP James Earl Jones)...everything else about darth vader is just goofy...his design, the way he moves (worse than Michael Keaton stiff neck Batman), and that breathing (khaaa khuuu khaaa khuu) 😒 just give me a break. He's nothing compared to Paul Atreidis ...LISAN AL-GHAIB!!!

Darth Vader was a truly evil character in the Star Wars franchise but come on he would never be able to hold a candle to the pure evil that was Lord Dark Helmet

See you have your premise wrong….

It not that Vader is super popular.. it’s just that Luke was so sickly sweet that no one could get behind him!

Comic Darth Vader is just a collection of him looking and being powerful.

The surrounded by dead men moment is a particular standout.
