What would you do dilemma?

You're involved in a two-car crash on your way to work one morning in which you accidentally hit and kill a pedestrian. As you get out of the car, you are intercepted by a tearful woman who seems to think that she hit and killed the pedestrian.

You're not sure why she thinks she hit the person, but she is convinced. There's only you, the woman, and the person you hit on the road; there are no witnesses.

You know that whoever is deemed responsible will probably be sent to jail. What do you do?

Serious or ridiculously funny answers accepted

Having read an article this morning, where that exact thing happened to a young woman, I'm not sure anything could be ridiculously funny about the situation?

Because A, not everyone read the article (including me) and b there’s a lot worse going on in the world than a MADE UP dilemma on a swingers site forum.

It’s obvious isn’t it? You sleep with the girl, rob the pedestrian, get rid of the body and cars, get the pay day for knocking the target off, run away and live in Mexico together until the next call comes in

I'd reflect on the principles of deontological ethics and remind myself that I have followed all the rules and therefore I am not responsible for any of the consequences.

As the woman is the only other person present I would ask her if she followed the rules. If she had then by process of elimination it must be the dead person's fault.

Therefore it would be perfectly reasonable for us as the only witnesses to agree the most likely explanation for their failure to follow the rules and present that to the police.

There's an ethics to suit every occasion.

Ah well OP.

Aren't we involved in proximate cause and hazard here?

Or something..

You see, it may have been me who hit and killed the pedestrian, but as you say it's a two car crash, did the driver in the other car crash into me, causing me to crash into, and kill, the pedestrian?

If yes, then she needs to face the charges and defend herself (maybe an octopus landed on her windscreen, for example?).

If no, and the pedestrian's death is entirely my fault with no mitigating circumstances, then jail I would accept.

Call the police and allow her to take the blame

Don't get too involved with her so you don't feel guilty about it

Whatever a woman tells you IS correct. Argue at your peril. If she says she did it, she is right.

So you swerved to get the pedestrian and then impaled them onto her car

Definitely her fault

If she hadn’t been there the pedestrian would have bounced off your car no bother

Just be honest given that whoever hit the pedestrian will have DNA/clothing fibres on the car, and the pedestrian is likely to have miniscule paint flecks on them. Probably also a human shaped dent somewhere on a vehicle.

I've seen too many CSI to think anyone is getting away with anything !

I would have to tell the truth to the police as I recall it and then let the justice system take it from there.

But in the mean time the completely irreverent part of me wants to dress the poor corpse up as elf on the shelf. I have no idea why. Sorry not sorry.

Well as bad as that situation is, you would want to be some sick Puppy to screw over the lady that bad, Twice, Cell life is bad enough id imagine without being locked up with your own thoughts thinking you killed someone, plus Karma would be a serious bitch to anyone who pulled that stunt.

No a decent Human with a moral code accepts his/fate ,,Surely.
