ADHD and a cup of tea.

Oh, that rhymed. Good title for a book, perhaps? 😄

The neverending quest of drinking a freshly made hot cuppa.

It's like I've started a game, walked up to an NPC, accepted the quest, then ran around doing everything but the actual quest for the next couple of hours.

It's a good thing I don't mind it microwaved. 🙄

Omg yes. Thats why I only have 3 mugs and one glass. It encourages me to go find them. Its like a fun little game of hide and seek everyday. 😄

"What is an NPC?"

Non-Player Character, as in random townsfolk, shopkeepers, etc. 3D characters that aren't controlled by the player.

The game analogy just seemed to fit, that's all lol.

"Good thing I don't drink tea"

I don't always drink tea, but when I do it's often cold or microwaved. 😆

I'd end up scolding myself somehow. Probably not a good idea for me to have one. 😅

Haha, at least you're entertained at the same time!

I stick with one mug, because I'd end up making more than one lol.

Our life is an on-going saga of cold cups of tea, half finished tasks and missing items. Doesn't help we're as bad as each other.

Subconsciously, this is probably why I don't drink hot drinks at home.

Mr does this all. the. time. though 🤣

I can't decide whether it means that I'm nicely grown-up or just terribly old, but I'm delighted that I'd never heard of this...

Missing items are the worst though, I feel. The amount of times I've put my glasses down on something dark-coloured and spent 10 mins running about trying to find them. Honestly lol. 🙄

The full stops in that sentence tell a story of constant frustrated repetition! 😂

Games aren't for everyone, it's true. But if you feel better that you haven't played them, then good for you mate! 👍🏻

They just appealed to my ADHD at a young age and kept me occupied for more than a few minutes. 😅

The enjoyment wore off after a time, though. I have spent a long time in games over the years, but barely touch them these days and haven't dabbled for a while now. I enjoy other things more!

Another ADHDer here. Always on a side-quest, never advancing the storyline!

The main story is boring anyway and I skip through the dialogue lol. The most fun comes from all the random quests and distractions they create. 😄

It's a neverending quest! There's a limit now many times I'll reheat it though. A maximum of three times.

Knowing I only get three does help me remember better. It's not perfect, but it does help. 😅

Many a time I’ve gone to microwave a cuppa, only to find one already in there. Which is clearly wandered off and forgotten about 🙈

That's pretty good going, to be fair. I don't think I've ever done that. 😂 The trials and tribulations of owning and using multiple cups/mugs.

Got two others, but I hide them away (and of course forget where they are), so that I'm forced to use my fave mug. I've found it's all about tricking myself into doing certain things lol.

Omg! Who microwaves tea! 😱

It must be freshly made in a pot or with an infuser and loose tea leaves. If it goes cold, it must be thrown out, and fresh tea made.

The cup and saucer (no mugs) must match. The cup handle must be to the right, perpendicular to your line of sight. The cup must be warmed, as must the pot, if using one. The first sip must be taken with closed eyes and followed by an exhalation of "ahhhh".

The consumption of Earl Grey may be undertaken with an extended pinkie.

This is the way.

Ha, I won't throw away Yorkshire Tea because it's gone cold. I'll drink it cold, if I have to. 🤭

That sounds like far too much to do. Large mug, one sugar, half a spoon of Coffee Mate (so it at least stays hotter for longer, due to lack of cold milk), teabag in the mug, slow pour over the teabag and by the time it's full, it's a proper colour (builder's), then set down somewhere and forget about it for at least an hour. Perfection. 👌🏻

I feel the need to go and make tea correctly (according to me 😉)

Admittedly, other methods exist to suit...

Coffee Mate is because I barely use milk. 😅 Usually one cuppa per day, in the morning and very rarely another anytime after, so even a single pint goes off quickly.

Other "wrong" methods, eh? 😂

Coffee mate, this got me thinking as I always keep powdered milk in my van to make a cup of tea, powdered milk is hard to find in supermarkets even the staff don't know where to find it, where as coffee mate is always obvious, but frigging hell I looked at the ingredients and think I will keep up the search.

PS afternoon tea with Davina would most likely be a heavenly experience.

I literally have a cup of tea I left next to the microwave and forgot about, right now.

Thanks for reminding me. I wonder what adventures I will find between the couch and the kitchen.

Ooh a message! She's pretty, I'm hungry, My phone's ringing, where is it? AHH it's under my book, I was looking for that book. Is that what I was looking for? It must be, I'll read that for a bit, until I remember.

You're very welcome. 😆 I've decided against a cold / microwaved cuppa this morning and opted for a cold drink instead. It's the only break I have from the routine of reheating a drink.

You've perfectly described there, the pinball machine style of thoughts that can appear. I tend to have hyperfocus more than scattered thoughts, where nothing else but the thing I'm doing is even happening around me.

I've lost hours sometimes, but then I wouldn't be able to find them even if I tried. 😅

Hyperfocus is my peace and tranquility, disturbance usually comes in the form of a biological necessity or someone else. Which usually takes the form of a problem prefaced with: you're good at this kind of thing (translation - can I utilise your hyperfocus on my stuff - even though I moan about your less appreciated quirks the rest of the time?)

I prefer dissociation to hyperfocus though, it's not just an absence of everything around you, it's every internal cognition too. Meditation pfft, who needs mantras and breathing exercises.
