How many people have been let down by meeting the person you have been talking to for a while and are attracted to, only to find that the picture they have sent you is well out of date, and either loss of hair or they have gained a couple of stone, and thats just the women😂 I had liked a girl from her profile pic, never got anywhere with her, but seen she was on cam, all I can say was that it was a lucky escape.
I know everyone wants to look their best on pics, well some of them do and I am not knocking people because of their looks but at least have some resemblance and filters should be banned |

I've never been catfished.
Everyone I've met on a one to one basis has been exactly like I imagined then from their pics and messages.
I have seen people at group socials though that look nothing like their profiles and I thought it was a wind up when I was told who they were. |

Well men under 6ft are always somehow shorter 🤣🤣 I’ve had a variety, but then again this is what socials or video calls are for.
But agree you don’t actually know what you are going to get before seeing someone in 3D. |

I had it badly once on a dating site years ago. The chat had been good, the picture looked ok too. We spoke on the phone and had a good laugh. He described his car, so I knew it would be him when he turned up.
On meeting, I'd dressed up with a v neck dress, looking all lush.
His car pulled up in the town car park. I stepped out of my hiding place in Boots.
His shoes were beige, trousers were beige, belt was beige, shirt was beige, his hair had disappeared plus about 4 inches of height, 15 years of age and he'd lost about 5 teeth!
He'd already seen me at that point, dressed good, up to date pictures so looking precisely like them.
I was just shocked. Anyway, after he said he wanted to meet again, I made my excuses and left early. I text him after to say that he should be ore honest with his pictures and profile about who he was now and nit 15 years ago.
I saw him again on a different app years later, still with the same out of date picture! He clearly was never going to learn. |

I was in a fab related chat group in 2018 and one of the other guys claimed to be 55 on his fab profile but he admitted in the group to knocking a few years off and that he was actually 58.
He left the site and returned a couple of years later with a profile age of 50 and a year after that created a couples profile to run concurrent with his single profile but on that he gave his age as 48.
The last profile of his that I saw showed as 51 but based on his admission 6 years ago he is actually 64. |

Filters are easy to spot when used, so expecting someone to look like a snap adjusted image is a tad naive.
But also, I always find its easier to get an idea of what someone looks like if you can tell who they are in a profile photo that contains multiple bodies. 🤷♂️
God knows own how women on here cope sometimes given all they see of a guy is a hand, finger, tongue or dick on some random womans boobs/vagina.......... |

I was catfished on another app a while back. He used very old photos. Disappointed but more annoyed than anything. It really knocked me for six, that he thought it didn't matter, and that somehow he could win me over.

While photos don't quite capture exactly how a person looks (because they are 2D and we aren't), it's not often I've thought they didn't look like their photo.
Just subtle things, really. Overall, no. Never been catfished. |

I’ve suddenly realised that I am 6 foot and not 5’5” as most men who say they are 6’ end up being my height or quite shorter if I’m wearing heels! 
Very few people actually look like their profile photos. That is why I can never tell who is who at socials!

I’ve been catfished once (not on here) The person was using old photos. Best part of a decade I reckon and had changed quite a lot.
I send unedited selfies when people ask to see my face. I expect the same. If they don’t then it won’t go any further.

I've been lucky to meet a number of people who were much better than their photos. A small number I couldn't tell if the photos were worse or better than real life as the men had aged considerably since they were taken

The point of pics is to look as good as possible while still trying to be realistic. I used filters on my Halloween pics, to bring out background glow, deepen shadows, and create an oil painting effect on one of them. I also blur some of my backgrounds. But any subterfuge in my pics is in the posing and selection of the most flattering pics - which is what most other people tend to do. Why would I put up the most ungainly and masculine pics? I'm trying to downplay that! 🙄  |

Many people use Apps that make them look younger, prettier and slimmer. Its seems popular with woman and particularly TVs.
Tbh its obvious so im not sure why so many people fall for it. If you don't believe me just have a look at the hot pics x |

Total catfish here 👋 My pics and socialness are more comfortable online unless I'm already comfortable with you. The only pic actually showing my face has a filter and was a couple of years ago. Funnily enough, it's one of our most Fab'd I think. I wouldn't expect anyone to meet us without sharing current face pics first though |

I got catfished a while back now. Speaking to a lady for a few weeks and all seemed good.
Arranged a social meet and on the day of the meet she sent a photo where she had aged significantly.
We still met and she admitted that her pictures were very old.
She was a lovely lady, just too old for me.
Be up front of who you are, it saves any awkward meets.

I’ve met a woman who was shocked that I wasn’t ’ a stockier build’ because that’s what my photos portrayed.
Since then I have tried to adjust my photo angles so they give a truer depiction of my body type…. And I also changed my bio to clearly state I’m slim build.

No idea how to use filters.
I can't see why people use them to be honest. Isn't it always best to be honest who you are instead of pretending to them. If you wish to pretend to yourselves that you look like you do after filters, then go for it. I'd just rather stick with honesty x |

I've been accused of using filters because of my waist ratio and the purple lighting.
But if you meet me in my purple lighted bedroom then that's exactly how I look. Just without the face cropped out.
I don't like to keep pictures more than a year or so generally. I might not see the gradual changes because I see me every day, but people do change over time. And anytime someone sends me a picture and it's from pre COVID I do tend to just ignore them entirely 💜 |

My goal with pictures is always to show myself off realistically without resorting to cadaver shots. I tend to be more attracted to profiles that do the same.
But I'm more picky about interests than looks - everyone looks sexier when I have a grip on them anyway 😎 |

I am not smart enough/ have enough time to use filters other than colour tints on my pics. All of my selfies are rubbish. If someone wants to meet me after that ..fair play.
I cant be arsed with pretending to be something i am not. |
