... December 22nd when the evenings start getting longer again.

It always gives me hope of (eventually) the longer, warmer days of Spring/summer.

I know we have the coldest time of year (January to March) to get through first but that'll soon pass.

Bliss

This year for the first time ever. I am craving warmth.

Menopause has changed my body's and mental health reactions to cold, dark weather.

I'm looking into the SAD lights to help me regulate myself a little smoother, that or retire for 6 months a year in a warm country

I’m still enjoying the dark evenings. Curtains drawn, fire on, candles lit.

I’m sure I’ll crave the light soon

As soon as Christmas is over I start looking forward. Thinking of things to do in the garden etc.

I don’t like New Years so I ignore that!

I'm already looking forward to early January when all the seasonal fuss is over. New Year Eve/day does nothing for me either.

I relish the lighter nights. Being night blind, I don’t go out much

Struggling emotionally or financially?

Not quite, yet, if at all. I'm an åutumnal person and a disciple of the cool weather, the brisk walks and the kicking of leaves, the log fires and the comfort food and the scented wintry candles. 🍂

if one is single i dont see the point in staying in the uk at christmas/the winter months

ive always saved my summer holidays up at work so i can fly to the sun in december.

queue to get into the supermarket queue to get out queue to pay , traffic everywhere, taxis triple fare , if you can get one etc etc ..

try tenerife , hot sun chill and relax

not so expensive if you search the internet.

I’ve spent too much time working in the dark so far this year. I don’t usually start yearning for the light and warmth until January, but this year, I’m over winter already. Spring can’t come fast enough. Xx

Emotionally rather than financially I’d say.

I’m not the kind of person to overspend on things because of Christmas. It’s the dark and cold I struggle with most.

Me. I have horses so these dark evenings are miserable. If it weren't for them I probably wouldn't go anywhere other than work in the darker evenings.

I'm really looking forward to it and, with less than a month to go, I'm happy

My snowdrops are very eager this winter, some are a couple of inches high already

Issue with this country is the humidity. Grey, damp, muddy and snowless winters with several hours of daylight makes for a miserable time.

If you've ever been somewhere like Switzerland the -5 and below dry cold with snow is far more preferable not to mention snow is insulating and reflects light

I particularly look forward to late March when the clocks go forward and it's suddenly light at 8pm.

I think it starts to become noticeable around mid February when daylight edges back towards 6pm. Immediate post-Xmas (Jan/early Feb) can be bloody horrible.

Yeah, it's a slow change to start with. A few seconds per day.

Yes definitely, it makes such a difference. One thing I've never figured out is that the clocks change back about 7 weeks before the shortest day but don't change forward until about 13 weeks after it, to me it seems it ought to be the same. Can anyone explain?
