London (She/Her)

‘Glorious exploits’ by Ferdia Lennon. I’m listening to the audiobook and I love it but don’t feel I’ve cracked it yet. Set in the year 412 BCE (BC for the old folks out there) when Athens failed in its invasion of Sicily. A group of likely lads decide to use the remaining Athenian prisoners to stage a play!

My previous read was, ‘The Husbands’ by Holly Gramazio. Incredibly funny, reading was as easy as sliding a warm knife through butter, lightweight but not vapid. About a woman who gets a different husband every time he goes in and out the loft.

I'm currently reading "A crown this cold & heavy" - Sancia Stark.

It's the 3rd in the kingdom of lies series and so far I'm loving it, perfect mix of fantasy, good plot and some good smut.

My previous reads prior the two before this book was "when the moon hatched"

Currently Sing backwards and Weep by Mark Lanegan

Previously Junky by William S Burroughs

How many this year I genuinely don’t know, I haven’t been keeping count.

Love a dirty, gritty, seedy book, my all time favourite would be a rare one that I’m very proud to own called Indestructible Wolves Of An Apocalypse Junkyard by Max G. Morton

Current book is Londongrad by Reggie Nadelson.

My last book was Wizard's guide to surviving medieval england. It was a bit of a slog for me, however the one I enjoyed before that was "Julia 1984" which I thoroughly enjoyed, especially with Orwell's original as the backdrop to the story.

I think maybe 5 or 6 books this year, I tend to hyper fixate or neglect things in equal measure, reading is one of those things.

I'm totally shit. A self-described reader, with lots of books, the last one I tried to read was Caliban's War (2nd book in the Expanse series by James SA Core). That was in 2023. I never finished it. I haven't read a book since, although I spend all day reading code, documentation, emails, and the news. I spend a lot of time reading, just not books. I hate it.

I feel your pain. Reading is my whole life, but the last few years it has seemed to become so hard to properly devote myself to a book and become absorbed. Have I maybe just reached a saturation point, that the "properly enjoying reading" section of my brain has burned out? That really would make life suck. Hoping it'll recover with time and TLC.
