Love them, one of my friends works shifts so we rarely are off at the same time. So it means I can hear her voice. Plus messaging in Welsh is a pain with autocorrect so it means I can communicate quickly in my preferred language |

Yes I am but it really depends.
A voicenote that asks nothing about me, doesn't express any interest/discuss any thing I've spoken about before? Fuck, no.
I love hearing people talk, that stream of consciousness. The mini podcasts from my favourite squirrel. 🥰 |

I'd rather call or message. Tried voice notes a few times, but it always feels awkward and I sometimes forget what was said to me (ADHD and memory issues), so I don't bother with them lol. |

I dislike them. With a written text you can scan it quickly. You can also refer back to anything easily. Voice notes are a pain to have to replay if you miss anything or want to hear a part of it again. I'd prefer people not to send them. |

I have this friend on fab, I love her to bits, like as an actual real life friend not just a fab friend. Anyway, I send her voice notes and sometimes they’re 10 minutes long. And she listens to them. And sends me back 10 minute ones. If we weren’t already happily in love I think her and I would be so endgame.
Anyway yes I like sending them but replies are less instant. Depending on where I am.

Meh. I have a love/hate relationship with them.
Sometimes I enjoy hearing their voice and having a “proper” conversation is nice. I’m not always in the mood to communicate that way though and sending them back and forth just for the sake of it when you don’t have much to say feels like a chore.

I love a voice note and happily engage and receive. So much more personal and real than written messages.
Just wish fab would have a way of sending them.
Please feel free to DM for voice note exchanges hahaha |

Mostly not, but I have a friend who leaves such an absolute stream of consciousness, absurdly funny stuff that I throughly enjoy hers.
Especially because, somehow, it all makes sense at the end of it 💁♂️ xxxx |

Time and place, if there is a reason for it.
Otherwise no. Sometimes I am unable to listen to a voice note or at least reply, so the reply is delayed. A text can more often than not be easier to respond to.
I don't hate them though. Sometimes it's more convenient to voice note than type. It's very context base (shock!). |

Right time, place and reason yes.
I’d rather a vn than a phone call sometimes as it gives me time to respond.
Also a vn rather than a text as things can loose context when in written form.
If you’ve had a bereavement and still have voice notes from the person thats also comforting. |

I like a nice voice note from someone with a delightful voice, and sometimes it's easier to speak than type so I send them despite my tendency to ramble and not be sure how to end them I was once chatting with a lady who started sending 15 minute voice notes and by the time I had listened to them there was another 10 minute-r waiting! It got too much. |

I love sending and receiving voice notes. One of my favourite things is hearing a person's voice, their laughter, the little things that come out when talking.
My best friend lives in Australia and the time difference is a lot so quite often we rely on sending and receiving voice notes to keep in touch! |

This chimes with me. It’s a lovely way of giving time to people who you otherwise wouldn’t sync up with for practical reasons. |

Stream of consciousness is very much my vn vibes! |

"I do like to send & receive them… sometimes it’s a lot easier to contextualise what you need to say in a voice note as opposed to typing out an essay of a text message "
I feel this! It’s very natural to me. |

That sounds super cute 🥰 Less instant replies, is that a positive or negative? |

I should use these as my typing and spelling is rubbish but whenever I do one, I just go into hyper-babbel mode for about 10 minutes and not really say what I was trying to say; I pity the people that I send them to. |

"I love sending and receiving voicenotes.
Sending, mostly because its quicker.
Receiving, I love hearing their laughter, the shyness behind it etc
"
It’s quicker, yes! And hearing someone’s voice is lovely. |

I hate them with a passion."
Gosh, those don’t sound like fun voice notes to receive |

Yeah they can be nice, it took a while to get used to them. A friendly fabber guided me towards their usage."
Authoritative? Must be cos I’m in my forties, an older woman who knows what she wants |

"Hate them.
Hate your voice, hate my voice, hate voices in general, write me a text or fuck off.
What if my fingers are broken though?"
Then you can’t finger me, not interested. |

"Love receiving but never send
Same here. Always feels odd leaving voice notes.
It's like saying, I'm not quite ready to commit to a conversation, but I will speak to you intermittently "
Interesting. Is that how you feel when you get one? |

Time to respond and context - two big reasons I love a vn. The thought of listening back is lovely too x |

"Love em
It helps build a picture of the person.
I have a friend I met years ago in Ireland and we chat on phone and voice notes. Keeps the friendship more real. "
Helps build a picture of the person, I like that. |

Haha, considering how bad it can be, it's just easier to call or message. There would be a lot of PSes. 😂 |

"Has anyone else noticed an age divide? Youngsters love voice notes, middle age love text, seniors love calling "
I like messages and calls. 42, so yeah kinda right. Definitely seems to be mostly a generational thing. |

'Talk to me'.
I totally read the tone as an instruction 😆
I'd like to say age wasn't a factor, but I can't say the same for attraction. |

This is the reason I love to voice note. Because of my ADHD - I can just let loose with my stream of consciousness. Whether the recipient understands it (or appreciates it) is another matter 🤣 |

I bloody love voice notes. I use them all the time. You have the personality which you don’t get from text. But there’s not the demand of this has to be now, like in a call.
Even better when it’s a sexy voice note and you can replay it |

I too enjoy a voice note, sending or receiving. I consider myself an old fart so not sure about the generational divide. I actually love the stream of consciousness that pervades and I can replay a voicenote if I forget what they've said when I need to respond. Have also been known to have a play to naughty ones sent to me.
My best mate and I leave each other voice notes alot, sometimes days or weeks apart and there's something very comforting in hearing the voice of someone you care about but don't see as often as you'd like. Them sharing verbally what they think and feel with no interuption. I have no qualms in public speaking (it's part of my job) and I like my voice so am comfortable sending them. Rejoice in the voice! |

"I'm intrigued by this concept. So it seems some people, rather can call and converse, record and send messages to someone who records and sends messages back.... Mind truly blown. "
I think the idea is that you can listen to the voice audio at a time and place that's convenient and reply similarly when it's convenient. Phone calls have to happen at the same time for both parties and you can't choose if someone phones you at a given time. |
