We were in a BrauHaus in Vienna last week, Goulash on the menu.
Oh my gods, it was divine! Proper winter food, you could cut the beef with a spoon.
Oh, and the beers were amazing. If I could hibernate in there for the winter, I would! |

Or chips / proper chip shop chips with salt and vinegar and ketchup.
I tell the kids I love them more than sausage and chips and they know that’s a very high compliment coming from me! |

Scouse or hot pot argue amongst yourselves.
Both have memories associated with my Grans - I can see their smiley faces right now as I think about it.
And I'm smiling to myself at the thought of that slow-cooked soft meaty potato goodness, simmering on the stove.
Perfect comfort food, when coming in from the cold. My kids love it too. |

Someone called me "Babes". I put her right on that and I'm still seeing her several years later but she's never done it again!
Madagascan vanilla ice cream is fine comfort food for me, however. |

Someone made a dish for my kid when he was little and I've been making it for nearly 15 years whenever I need some comfort food. It's essentially mashed potatoes, covered in tuna, with a cheese sauce poured over it and baked in the oven. Obviously aimed at a child's palette but I still love it. |
