I am going to sound really old

When did this queuing in one long line at the bar become a thing!!!

Can we make it stop please!!!

I know who was in front of me when I was at the bar, if they came to me I’d point them in that direction… queue jumping was never that bad!! And when I did my time “behind the bar” you made a mental note of who was where!!!

Also… pints in long straight glasses…. No!!! Just no!!!

I tend to just go and stand at the next section of the bar and wait my turn like the old fashioned way 🤣🤣

It's just weird isn't it. Although I always got annoyed when someone turned up at the bar when I'd waited 5 minutes and got served before me (and didn't have the courtesy to say he was here before me).

Drink wine. Avoids any pint glass issues.

I’ve never seen a queue in a pub or bar. It’s chaos. And it’s a bunch of d*unk people trying to literally push in front of you. And they definitely don’t point out others who were in front.

Haha it’s the youngens, they just don’t know the pub etiquette yet. It’s like surrounding Christmas when you get the once a year goers come out for their annual festivities and decide to choose their drink at the bar while everyone else is waiting. Frustrating but this too shall pass.

As for straight glasses and chalices, give me a traditional pint glass with the curves at the top any day!

It's why I prefer quieter places, whenever I visit a pub (which isn't very often anyhow). Also hate a busy place because of ADHD and misophonia. So a packed bar would annoy the shit out of me lol.

The club I go to for raves isn't as popular as the one across the road, but that's a good thing. Better music, better atmosphere and definitely better (and fewer) patrons. The staff there are great at making sure they remember who was first.

If someone was waiting before me and the staff come to me, I'll always point them towards those before me. It's just polite.

As for pints. Beer is beer. They could serve it in a shoe and I'd still drink it. Provided the shoe was clean, of course. 😅

Someone recently said it started during COVID and hasn't reverted.

I solve this problem by never going in pubs

Que at a bar😳 WTAF 🤦🏽

You just wait for a space, squeeze in, get bar staff attention, chat to the ladies at the bar, get drink(s) and enjoy 👍🏽

Surely venues aren’t designed for long ques beside the one to get in 🤷🏽‍♂️😂😂🤷🏽‍♂️

I think there was a radio report which said cos young ones hadn't gone to the pub during covid and were used to keeping their distance, this then they brought to the pub when they opened up post covid.

Just stand somewhere else along the bar, most can accommodate at least 3 people at a time. In bigger named pubs, most bar staff just serve in their section, so you're more likely to get your drinks before the person second in line.

If this happened in Ireland there would be a civil uprising. We can't even queue at a bus stop.

The Brits do love an orderly queue though. Ye only have yourselves to blame! 😂

Simple solution to this nowadays. Take a note of your table number, download the app and order drinks online. The days of standing at the bar have now mostly gone along with ashtrays and nonic glasses and beer mugs. Most likely get served in a pilsner glass these days.

I don't think Fabio is an actual Brit. He's one of them "immigrants" 😱😁

Try doing the ordering from a wheelchair. You're lucky if they spot the top of your head at the bar and you're damned lucky if you're not trampled on by fellow pub/bar-goers

I've read lots of angst about this new queuing thing, but never actually seen it in person.

Maybe it's one of those quaint regional trends...

Good bar persons should be noting who is next to serve...

Not just serving next person who is next to person served..

Our bar staff pour our pints before we finish them , no matter how busy pub is.

No waiting ....

I remember the days you go squash in at the bar, push your cleavage up and attract the attention of the sexy bar men.

Didn't work with women, unfortunately.

Our local would see us walk towards the bar, mouth same again and be at the optics before we could get our money out.

Tonypandy.

I was at a very busy bar a few months ago, where a guy complained to the bar staff that his drink hadn't been served in the right branded (poncy) glass.

The woman behind the bar just rolled her eyes and went to serve the next person.

This bloke actually had a full on melt down and needed to be removed by security.

I ordered same drink, I told her I'd have that one, to save her pouring another, and got it for free.

It’s partly due to the inexperience of young bar staff who can’t keep track of whose turn it is. Experienced staff can remember the order of queuing but these kids don’t regard it as a job with any sort of skill. Also in city bars you tend to get a wide mix of cultures, so establishing a queue tends to avoid punchups between people who have different social norms.

I still like to go to the bar vs ordering on an app. Mostly so I can annoy everyone else by asking what all the flavours they have in gin/rum (as I can't see that far) 😅
