Having a meal with someone i just met sounds horrendous.
Pool, bowling or crazy golf is my 2nd date, brings out the fun side of them, I like seeing that"

First meets have included pub, coffee/patisserie, park (with my dog in tow), waffle place (and I can chat) and the worst (at her request) has been MacDonalds!
Personally, I like a nice country pub, with comfy armchairs and at this time of year a roaring fire. |

Ideal first meet:
Daytime: I like a nice coffee or a walk (better if we can do both.) plenty of nice places to wonder and there’s always a good coffee shop somewhere, even better if it has an open fire.
Evenings: I like to go to a nice Pub (nothing super busy and somewhere we can have a proper chat to see if we click, if we want to go further from there then we can or we can arrange another outing or just go our separate ways nothing is on or off the table in my mind.) |

Had my first dog walk and cuppa meet not too long ago and it was lovely. Not only do I love dogs, they're also nice to talk about and play with.

Had my first dog walk and cuppa meet not too long ago and it was lovely. Not only do I love dogs, they're also nice to talk about and play with.

Coffee. Love coffee. Don't think I've ever been to a restaurant or gone out for a meal when cooking was an option. Don't like pubs or bars because of the smell of booze, kinda grim. Cake is too much sugar. Yes, I am as boring as I sound |

Anything but a quiet coffee shop. When the topic of Fab comes up and I speak about some of my first disastrous meets I want them to belly laugh out loud rather than stifled chuckles and looking around. |

For me typically it's a quick luncheon in some quaint café or perhaps coffee and cake.
More recently it's been a more cultural affair — an art gallery or museum, or perhaps an exhibition.
Occasionally it's also dinner.
I prefer quirky socials and first meets. |

Sadly, it's true that many people see it as cat (or dog?) fishing there days. Instead of just showing something that you love.
If I had a dog, I would either mention it on my profile or have one picture. I'd be proud to have them in my life, not feel the pressure from sites and apps to hide them, purely because someone decided it was dishonest to show your love for an animal who lives with you.
