No, I'd rather just get it out of the way quickly. Early menopause is a family delightful family trait, and I've been peri since I was 38. I've already had various scans and hysteroscopies for numerous inconvenient symptoms, so I'd quite like to wake up one morning in the very near future having completed the whole uncomfortable process. |

No, I don't think so. The women in my family tend to have quite late menopauses and I really hope it's done and dusted before my 60th.
Gosh. My 60th. First time I've ever typed that. Wonder what the forums will look like then. |

Hi Nell,
Same here ! I have been peri for more than 5 years now.
They have been doing tests, scans and so on... and the results are always the same : it is just peri, you have to endure until it is over...or take the control birth pill which I am mot willing to...
Can't wait for it to be over but I guess I will be complaining about something else when it is done 😅

I was late going through menopause, was 56 when my periods stopped. After menopause pelvic floor muscles are weaker, then there's unpleasant other symptoms arising from lack of certain hormones. Plus it's quite common to piss yourself when you sneeze, hence targeting of Tena products.
So I would say if younger females were able to get it delayed that would be potentially good... |

They will serve to highlight the difference between you and much younger women but otherwise remain more of less the same |

"Would you delay your menopause, or would you have delayed it, if you had the choice?"
You can't delay it! We are all different and will go through it at different ages but delaying it is not an option. |

"@_ophieslut May I ask why you are asking ?
I am intrigued..."
I can't answer for Sophie but there was a program on R4 the other day talking about menopause and I caught a bit of it between customer visits. A researcher was talking about the work she was doing on a hormone to delay the menopause. Apparently (and this was news to me) women loose many eggs each month, the quantity determined by levels of this particular hormone. The less eggs you lose each month, the longer it takes for menopause to start.
She believed it would be possible to delay the onset of menopause indefinitely. Apparently this is separate to the loss of fertility of the eggs with age so wouldn't necessarily make pregnancy later in life any more of an issue.

I stand corrected but hell no! Best bits of being post menopause is no more periods, hormone fluctuations and on hrt mood swings. |

After being peri for a years I had a hysterectomy which puts you into straight into menopause, I don’t feel any different apart from not having periods which is great, I wish I had done it years ago |
