Risca

In the sleepy town of Risca, South Wales, there's a debate that divides the odd from the normal and the weak from the strong. From angry comments from passersby on the streets, to full on bare knuckle street fighting. The debate has started to get out of hand and I'm turning to the wise Fab folk to settle it once and for all. What goes best on a crumpet? sweet or savoury? For me and the wise of Risca, it's savoury and in particular melted cheese.

It's butter and only butter, everything else is just wrong, you also need to double toast the crumpet.

Just butter or jam so I guess I'm in both camps.

Otherwise they're too soggy in your standard toaster 🤷🏻‍♂️ they need a second round of toasting, try it, it'll change your life!

Savoury everytime,

Butter, marmite or cheese.

Sometimes all of the above.

Wales/ All over UK

I’m here to offer an alternative option….

BOTH

A crumpet with salted butter, a nice sweet jam AND a mature cheddar all on it at once

Either dripping in butter or a good dollop of piccalilli and cheese, toast again to melt the cheese and warm up the piccalilli. Now I'm craving crumpets!

Just butter.

Like toast, crumpets are just an excuse to eat butter without feeling guilty lol.
