What makes you decide to comment on a thread on here or not?

The content?

The OP?

You are in a mood either playful or antagonistic?

Or any other reason.

For me I like to comment on things that are of interest to me. That said there are sometimes you can see the way a thread is going whether it’s purposefully provoking in a negative way or the comments are or the thread is highjacked.

Being honest there are some posts that are of zero interest to me and that’s more down to the person posting than the thread itself. Whether it’s “look at me” or anything else.

I have realised if you don’t agree and what you say seems more angry than constructive to stay away and if someone comes at you just to wish them well

The content, it has to be interesting. I rarely look at who has posted tbh, although there are a couple of people I purposely avoid.

This one was borderline 😂😂

There are 30 something threads on each page in each forum.

Most days I rarely even open more than 4 or 5 in total and it's an unusual day if I contribute to more than 2 of those.

If it's a fun light-hearted thread I might decide to comment. If it's controversial I usually decide not to bother.

That's more because I don't have anything of value to add as in most of those types of threads I have no experience of the topic.

The exception to that rule is when certain needy content creators go out of their way to dismiss others for their lack of education on a particular subject.

Now and again I decide to comment on those threads just to remind them that they are showing their own ignorance with their snidey dismissals.

Apart from that I don't really give much thought to my decision to post on a thread. It may just catch my eye and deserve a quick comment.

I can't think of a single comment I've made on here that has been nasty and I've never regretted anything I've posted.

Mostly the content, I'll offer either my pearls of wisdom or my taking the piss.. there's no in-between really but it's all done with love in my heart and wetness in my knickers

There are certain topics I used to contribute to but since I've found peace, I now stay away Same with certain posters, I know what's coming if I post on their threads so try to avoid it unless I want to give my input.

I don't care who the op is.

Depends on my mood, certain ones I avoid.

I'll probably comment on most threads unless there's an extreme lack of intelligence/subtlety, or they're thinly veiled "NIGYSOB" dramas, or a poorly executed "look at me". I love a well-executed "look at me" though - that's a challenging and stimulating mental labyrinth.

I generally only contribute to threads where I can be silly.

Life is way serious enough for me, so I don’t need to get into that kinda shit too often on here. I’ll only respond to the OP if they’re hot. I’m tryin’ te get ma leg over after all.

Poker Face

The OP doesn't influence if I post or not, just the content.

I can't be bothered with shaven/hairy and circumcised or not threads etc

More often than not it's what posted rather than the poster. My mood on the day.

Some content doesn't appeal to me for various reasons and it feels a tad cruel to go in to them. We all like different things. Proud of how diplomatic I am this morning.

About 3 feet away from the fence

The kind of threads I like to comment on are ones that:

- aren't about sex

- aren't about politics of any sort

- aren't dog-whistle threads from boomers trying to get people riled up

- aren't self-absorption threads

- aren't validation threads full of people fishing for compliments

- aren't threads where the regular denizens are glazing one of their own

- aren't the same threads that get recycled every 6 weeks

So you can imagine how difficult it is for me to find anything on here worth commenting on at all..

If my gut response to a thread is negative then I likely don't comment. That sage old saying; 'if can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all' comes into play.

If I type out a message and realise how boring it is, then I'll definitely delete it and leave it. This one is close

I no longer participate in the forå these days. I'm mostly a lurker. I enjoy being incognito.

I only emerge from the dancing shadows (cast from the flickering scented candles of the Lounge) to reply to someone I lust for, long for and wish to covet and bonk.

It’s all about the content for me. I try to stick to the light hearted threads and away from the contentious or tenuous ones (which seem to be on the exponential rise).

I also now tend to stay away from the ‘I’m in’ threads as most get blatantly ignored on those.

I think my posting style has evolved since I’ve been here. Early on my posts replies may have been the more succinct one word kind many a time. I now deem those to be ‘empty replies’ in so much so as they don’t add a great deal. Now if I have something to say I tend to give more justification behind my reason for saying what I said.

I tend not to notice who has started a thread.

I tend to post if I've something to say that I can be arsed typing out and that hasn't already been said more eloquently.

I only comment if it's a woman that starts it end of .Come on most guys that come in forums target the womans comments because it's the only way some guys can get attention, some guys who start threads are looking for the contentious. Some women ,not so much these days, are looking to highlight the stupidity of men in the way they go about the site .Unless you're known you won't be quoted and the threads outwardly asking to name the most popular will only mention the few .For me I like or prefer the lighthearted threads .

Usually if it is playful (and some OPs generate those type of threads - so it may be I comment in them more, plus those posters tend to be content with ribald comments).

Sometimes if they are annoying I will post a feisty response - but then I might start typing and think 'sod it, what's the point' and delete my response before sending.

Other days I just cannot be bothered. Today is probably going to be one of those days.

Both for me.

Depending on my mood, I'll also look through a few threads and either they won't be of interest to me, or they are obviously going to go a certain way & I just click away from them.

Sagittarius A

My primary motivation is the content, often I don't notice who the poster is. Over the course of time, I may find a pattern of responding to a particular person more frequently. I guess that's a liking. Some I like when they or I are in certain moods.

My motivations are playful, but sometimes playfulness can be received as antagonistic. Or an interest in the subject matter, or what makes a person tick. My approach is one of contributing to a subject and learning from others.

I try not to think of people in static terms: this person is mean, nice etc. people's moods are dynamic. If I slip into that I remind myself that judgment probably reflects on me more than them.

The hijacking thing I find subjective, I'm not saying it can't happen or can't be intentional. It's not my motivation, but I don't believe anyone, even the op, has the right to marshall discourse, only the mods in accordance with policy, conversation evolves in relation to its participants. If it doesn't go the way someone wanted it to go that isn't grounds to direct other people.

I'm not really one for conflict-aversity. It promotes that polite veneer, beneath which passive aggression can fester and all that ugly covert social shitbaggery. I prefer things out in the open, but I appreciate that's not everyone's cup of tea.

People have diverse beliefs and values, it'd be boring otherwise. Interesting post, thank you.

Just whatever takes my fancy or peaks my interest really.

However, I am getting a bit fed up of the 'profile advice' related forum posts. They seem to be getting more frequent and I won't be commenting on those anymore.
