Good folk of the forums I have a question for the masses…

So.. talking to my mate who has a little kid, and decided it’s about time he is introduced to Star Wars….

Now … the question is… do you do it in chronological order (1,2,3,4,5,6) or in release order(4,5,6,1,2,3)

Now, being flippant I said only show him 4 and 5 and use it as a life lesson in that the good people don’t always win! So I was of no use!

Another friend suggested the “machete order” (4,5,2,3,6…. Forget about 1)

So…. Suggestions?

How they came out, could be confusing with the advances in cinematography etc if one saw them in numerical order..

Away for Christmas

Machete order!

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and Return of the Jedi.

It's designed to:

Preserve and add new twists

Keep the surprise that Luke and Leia are siblings

Strengthen the parallels between Luke and Anakin

Introduce young Anakin before the end of Return of the Jedi

Phantom menace is optional but goes between Empire and Clones.

Whatever order you he chooses will not detract from it being borderline child cruelty.

Good question! And one I struggled with when doing my own binge in May.

I went for chronological order and I’d say, for all the reasons we all hate it, the little one will enjoy phantom menace.

Start with clone wars, not all of it, just... a lot of it. For kids it gets them used to what the world is and most importantly WHO Anakin Skywalker is.

THEN you show them episode 4, when old Ben tells Luke that Darth Vader killed his father Anakin Skywalker the kids will be more invested against Darth Vader without knowing who he is.

So, clone wars, 4, 5 (1,2,3) 6.

A little disjointed maybe, but man is it going to rock their little brains.

Nah. You are not allowed to shit on the prequels but praise solo in the same breath. With the exception of rogue one, Disney star wars movies are terrible even compared to prequels.

I am enjoying the fact that 7, 8, 9 aren't even getting a look in.

To be fair 7 is passible as a stand alone but mostly because it was just a redo of 4 but tweaked ever so slightly. Which also goes against it too.

They were all redos of the original three, you could easily see the same elements and story structures. So sad.

surely as released would be best? If I was to watch them for the first time again it would be in release order 🤔

Depends on age but they may enjoy Star Trek Prodigy or Star Wars Rebels

1,2,3 are a lead into seven seasons of clone wars, Ashoka and Bad Batch
