Who else is as surprised as me about the news that their chocolate isnt "expertly crafted with the finest ingredients" as the packaging suggests?
It comes after they made the bombshell announcement in a bid to get the lawsuit against them dismissed, but their attempt was denied.
They measured the lindt 70% cocoa having 48% if the 0.5 mcg lead and 96% of the cadmium 4.1 mcg limit, many are now questioning if it is safe to eat it.,
What is your view about it and the future for them, do you at it? I havent eaten it for a long time, what I think about is how they are now destroying their reputation after being opened for such a long time, they opened their first shop in 1879, so been going on for 145 years ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Always found it impossible to eat more than two of them at a go. The buttery and sugary centre gets sickly quickly. Don't really eat much chocolate at all these days. The Aldi dark stuff is pretty decent for the price. |

I don't eat chocolate often BECAUSE......
since my childhood the level of cocoa is sow low they are no more than bars of fat and sugar..... they taste like grease to me and the worst is LINDT
It's amazing what advertising can do. A nice package and some seductive words and people will pay for lard and say they love it. |

So, products like Cadbury, Galaxy, Mars, and Lindt are legally classified as chocolates. With their high sugar content and relatively low cocoa percentage.
This making them more similar to sweets, in terms of nutritional value. In actual fact true chocolate typically contains a much higher percentage of cocoa solids, like those in dark chocolate.Which has less sugar.
Milk chocolates, such as Cadbury or Galaxy, focus more on sweetness, so they’re closer to confectionery than traditional chocolate. |

It's a load of bollocks.
Mcg is a microgram - a millionth of a gram.
Ask yourself this; when you drink a glass of water, how many micrograms of it has previously been in someone's prostate/bladder? 🙈 |

Lead and cadmium are prevalent in cocoa. The higher the cocoa content of your chocolate, the higher it will be in lead and cadmium.
I'm not a massive fan of lindt but then I love American hersheys with its baby-sick smell from the butyric acid, so I don't have the most discerning palate out there. |

Am I right in thinking that a lot of American "chocolate" is actually emulsified fats with chocolate flavouring? |

"The ingredients in their 70% cocoa chocolate contain under the legal limit of lead and cadmium? If I've read that correctly I'm not seeing a problem. "
I was just thinking the same, shock horror, chocolate product conforms to regulatory standard. ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |
