I guess any song can be a sad song, depending on the memories attached to it, but a couple that always get me:
Adiós - Glen Campbell
Wasn't Expecting That - Jamie Lawson (a bit sentimental, but I'm a bit sentimental, so...)
Waking Up Alone - Paul Williams

Evanescence - My immortal it was sang at a funeral and ever since I can't listen.
One reason I knew I was pregnant was because I cried to always by Bon Jovi 😂 I'm not usually one to cry to songs.

For me it’s Drive by The Cars as it reminds me of someone who I loved in the past but lost due to my own stupidity. It was her favourite song.
But generally speaking I always find Annie’s Song by John Denver sad. It just has beautiful full rich lyrics and it’s more striking as it was actually written about his wife at the time. Maybe it’s more poignant now for me as he is no longer around having passed away at a relatively young age (infact the same age as me now) under tragic circumstances. I generally find him to be a very underrated artist/song writer anyway. |

I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie.
I do also cry at You'll Never Walk Alone but that's because it's been played at a lot of funerals I've attended rather than me finding the song inherently sad. |

It's often what a song is associated with that makes me cry/sad.
I have a couple of songs played at my family members funerals that still make me really sad when I hear them.
One is called let the heartache begin, my dad loved it and I had it played at his funeral. It's quite an old song though, so I don't routinely hear it. |

I can't remember the last time music has brought me to tears, but there are lots of songs that invoke a lot of emotion.
Johnny Cash ~ Hurt
Sum 41 ~ Walking Disaster
Bullet for my Valentine ~ All these things I hate
Music is fantastic just to process feelings and emotions. |

When I lost my wife I played a number of songs but the one that still cuts like a knife is
Changes by Black Sabbath
Years gone by don't make things easier it's just easier to accept.
Cancer is hell. |

"Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits)

That's a decent tune. |

Wires by Athlete… my daughter almost didn’t make it at birth so this tugs hard.
and then driving home after failing to revive a friend who drowned on our kayaking trip… REM’s Find The River came on the car radio. Had to pull over. 3 of us in bits and a massive outpouring of emotion we had tried to keep in.

Rejoice in the sun by Joan Baez, from the film Silent Running as it's a sad ending
The girl who never was, by James Blunt. About miscarriage, never fails. Blunt might take flak about his music, but I've never understood that. He's a good singer/songwriter, doesn't take himself seriously, very funny, and this song (& Monsters mentioned a few times above) proves he can really hit the feels
