A waste of time.

It's an idea we build up in our heads, then we rope another person in and wait for the onslaught.

Dunno.

It’s the most written about subject of songs I guess.

As an intangible thing it’s different for all of us too as it’s how we feel and how it makes us feel. I guess some things in common with the butterflies, those looks that you have with a person, the depth of feelings.

But you can never go out of your own body to see the effect or properly describe it once it hits

Brain and body chemicals, essentially. They trigger the initial process.

.

That then gets finessed and directed according to the needs and desires of the individuals in a constant back and forth ebb-and-flow during the lifetime of their association. The latter is rarely "static" and always in a state of change.

"A feeling or a choice ?"

It’s neither a feeling nor a choice. It’s just there. Like a base instinct.

When you know, you know

My nephew once asked me whether he may be in love with a new girlfriend. I just asked him whether he would give her one of his kidneys, that day, without hesitation if she needed it to survive. He said he wouldn't. I just said that when he met someone for whom he would, then he'd truly love her.

It's a feeling first but then it becomes a choice. It's an action. You choose to maintain.

The heart is a beautiful liability but love alone, that feeling isn't enough. You need to choose it and the person, every day to keep it going

Definitely not a choice. You can't help feeling it, so you don't choose it, it almost chooses you. It's more physiological, something you just can't help feeling.

A feeling. That's when the moment you say goodbye is the moment you want to see them again. The first person you think of when you wake up and the last person you think of when you go to bed. Where every image you have of yourself is with the other person.

Actually, being a live kidney donor is something I have researched quite a bit and I would be quite happy to donate one of my kidneys to a stranger to help give them a better quality of life. The only thing stopping me at the moment is the amount of time I would require off work before and after the operation. Definitely something I hope to follow through in the future

Interesting though. I mean, I'm not the dictionary. Well, I think I should be... But... You know...

Originally, I was going to say "love is the feeling all the forum ladies have for me".

Love is….. the hardest thing to put into words. Poets and songwriters have tried for centuries, we like the songs and poems that resonate with our own interpretation of the feeling. And those with a good tune of course.

You don’t get to choose who pops up on your radar, but you do choose what actions to take with the people who do.

Love is the ultimate in liking. We tend to like people who are like us. To say “I like you” very often means “I am like you”. In a relationship you need similarities to build a foundation but differences to keep it exciting. When you have what seems to be the perfect balance, you feel love.

The love for your child or parent is not the same as the love for a partner of course. The physical pleasure one person can bring out in another certainly heightens the feeling of love.

My very poor attempt at a description.

Love is…..

The desire to protect

The desire to nurture

The desire to make happy

The desire spend time and the willingness to make time.

The desire to put that person before all others

The person you love is the person you can’t live without
