So what who where or when has emotionally overwhelmed you when you least expected it.

For me. Just recently visited Bergen-Belsen and they have a quiet room. Can't explain why but I got completely emotionally overwhelmed on leaving it.

I would have thought that was a totally normal response.

Agreed. I can't imagine not being emotionally overwhelmed visiting.

"Anne Frank went there. "

Unfortunately not by choice there is a symbolic headstone to her and Margot

Anne Frank House. Sombre, moving and emotive.

I agree, I'd been to the National Holocaust Museum the day before which was also moving.

911 memorial museum hit me. You can listen to voicemails from people on the planes who knew what was happening. And seeing melted steel and fire trucks was pretty intense.

That seems perfectly logical, OP.

The last time for me was a few weeks ago during a group heart coherence meditation. It came out of nowhere.

All over

Seeing the daily struggles of some people and often not much you can do can also feels overwhelming from time to time. If you care about others around you, there is always that possibility

South Wales

Aberfan Cemetary

There is a road on the opposite side of the Valley and as you drive along and look out across you can take in the magnitude of the disaster. The headstones of those killed are lined up in rows.

Always thought it looked sad, but also beautiful in the way it honoured them. If that makes sense?

My Uncle went up to help out that day (as did so many others) - so it held memories to us as a family, and the cemetery was always pointed out on car journeys going past, so we could reflect on what happened and the lives lost and remember them.
