Hi OP,

Firstly, I wouldn't worry. Lots of factors in our everyday life can cause a little imbalance of our bowels.

Have you recently changed anything in relation to your diet or started any exercising? As either of these can alter your need to go to the loo more or less frequently. Are you aware of any allergies or intolerance to foods that you may have?

It’s very variable and depends on your diet. But the average mouth to anus transit time is around 20 hours. If you shit soon after eating, it’s not the same food! There is a “gastrocolic effect” which stimulates colonic peristalsis when you eat.

Hey

Yea I've been drinking water which is something I never did before, I've switched out a lot of meals for just soup and slice of bread. The only thing I steer clear if is scrambled egg, funny that I can eat boiled or poached or fried though lol

I just wondered if anyone finishes their meal and then....plops lol

Thanks for the reply

Never really have that urge after eating. I think it is a normal physiological response though , but I'm the outlier.

I usually drink about 800ml of water with my meals, maybe more in summer.

I don't doubt that or want a squabble.

But I will go weeks without certain foods and then when I eat it...it's there in the bowl

It seems like some foods can seem to pass quickly through the digestive system. I have found this with some foods, especially spicy ones...

I often poop about 10-20 minutes after breakfast...

It's not disgusting to talk about pooping either. It's important to discuss these things sometimes...

More to the point, how soon after going to the loo before you start eating and do you wash your hands properly?

Tummies and bowels can react negatively to sudden or drastic changes. Maybe introduce changes incrementally and this way you can note which food types you react badly to.

I am no expert, so if it continues I would chat with a qualified person.

I hope though that it settles soon.

And in answer to your OP, I can be daily or more depending on my exercise that day or foods consumed, and sometimes it could be a few days before I go.

Whilst we are talking about poo, I had a colonic hydrotherapy a few months ago. It was such a weird yet amazing experience.

.

Are you vegetarian by any chance? Years ago we were studying gastric transit and found a girl who passed through in 4 hours. Turned out she was vegetarian.

I tend to get stomach ache that tends to go from omg, where's a loo? To nothing and then repeat, several times.

The end result is the loo usually.

Same thing when I haven't eaten and I get badly stressed. I think it's wind tbh.

Mr tends to go around the same time every day. Don’t think eating has any direct impact on the timing.

Mrs has some medical issues around this aspect of life and that definitely impacts her cycle. Can be anything from 3 times a day to once every 3 days.

Eating times don’t seem to affect my motions, I am regular 1 in the morning 1 in the evening, unless something has disagreed with me then might need an unscheduled dump.

It varies on the factors, what I've eaten prior and how much. Otherwise few hours, depending upon which point of the day is being discussed

I ate black ice cream in Whitby once and can confirm that a) my digestion takes 36 hours, and b) takes 3 days to fully process through. I'm also pretty regulated at around 10am each day.

Now, the important question, why do you want to even know?

It's my kink

In all seriousness, it's a pain, and wanted to know if other people can eat an apple and find it 2 or so hours later

If you are getting pains after eating certain foods or types then there’s the answer, if you ask yourself should I have eaten that? Then the answer is no, your own instincts will tell what to and what not to eat, ultra processed foods have only come to the fore in the last few decades and our bodies cannot evolve that quickly, there’s many of us who shouldn’t eat wheat based due to lethargy and bloating afterwards and in theory breads only been round for how long, 2-3000 years, the solution is elimination but slowly and gradual, if you still must have bread sourdough is better naturally than gluten free, fibre is key to going for a number two, try small portions of high fibre fruits or even fig roll biscuits daily, if you want to go full science on it then a dna methylation test can reveal a lot about you and your diet on an individual basis although they are 150quid upwards, remember if you are putting teeth marks in the door handle when you go to the loo, your diet is wrong
